The Oakley Finisher Stage ended the 358th edition of the GARMIN Andalucía Bike Race. An edition with 11.156 kilometers and XNUMX meters that crowned Martin Stosek and the World Champion, Andreas Seewald, as new champions of the event. Third place was enough to certify their victory after winning three stages and getting on the podium in the other three.
Regularity was the best ally for the strongest couple of this twelfth edition.
“It wasn't easy at all, the pace was very high. We wanted to be regular and we did it. We controlled the race very well from the first day, we had no physical or technical problems, so it was perfect ”, the winners acknowledged after wearing the white jersey of the champions.
Victory on the Oakley Finisher Stage went to Martin Frey and Simon Stiebjhan of the Singer Racing Team. The German pair managed to take advantage after lap 2. The Portuguese Tiago Ferreira and Cordovan Miguel Muñoz also responded to the attack, finishing in second position.
The guys from Wilier Triestina - Pirelli defended the second position in the overall standings, controlling the Buff-Megamo team, the only ones who could aim to overtake them. A final stage of control that brought them to the finish line just before the rival couple and therefore ensured them the silver medal in the overall.
The Andalucia Bike Race gave more than positive emotions, the team worked great, Wout and Fabian found the right rhythm and the right feeling, the staff worked in an excellent way to always find the best Wilier Triestina Urta SLR to athletes.
“We are returning home with a second place in the overall standings and 3 stage wins, we certainly cannot complain. We tried to win, but even then we are satisfied ”.
The 5th place for Leonardo Paez and Daniele Mensi from Soudal Lee Cougan and the 7th for Chiarini and Failli from Cicli Taddei.
