At least once in a lifetime. This is what mountain bike agonists say about the BMW HERO Südtirol Dolomites, the (by now) legendary challenge that stands out not only for the technicality and difficulty of the routes, but also for the scenery in which it takes place: the Dolomites.
On 17 June 2023, a multitude of bikers from all over the world will crowd the starting grids for the toughest mountain bike marathon in the world, with its two routes of 86 kilometers and 4.500 meters in altitude, and the one of 60 kilometers with 3.200 meters of altitude.
And with the race, HERO Bike Festival also returns, the four-day event, from 15 to 18 June which revolves around the competition but which offers numerous appointments and ideas also for companions and non-competitors.
It starts on Thursday 15 June 2023, with the opening of the exhibition village, where it will be possible to see the news of the reference companies in the off-road sector and their green initiatives. From this day it will also be possible to book an outing to scout the race trails along the HERO Trails with an expert guide. In the evening, the HERO Charity Fashion Night is scheduled, to officially welcome the HEROs with a show “that alone is worth the ticket”, as they say when talking about shows to remember.
The unmissable appointment on Friday 16 June with HERO KIDS 2023, the non-competitive event for children aged 4 to 12, with two routes divided according to age.
Saturday 17 June is D-day, that of the great BMW HERO Südtirol Dolomites race that we described at the beginning, which will enliven the center of Selva Val Gardena for over 12 hours, waiting for The Great Finale!, the show in which awarded the winners, followed by the HERO Race Party, a real party with live music with local bands and DJ sets.
All with the fil rouge of sustainability: «After having achieved the "carbon neutral" goal in the last edition, this year we wanted to introduce a further initiative to confirm our desire to enhance intelligent tourism, between enhancement of the territory and organization of events - comments Gerhard Vanzi creator of the HERO project - and this is how an extension of the HERO program was born which will also be appreciated by the agonists who want to discover the culinary pleasure of the Dolomites on Sunday". This is a nice addition to the 2023 HERO.
HEROES GOURMET TOUR
This delicious novelty is scheduled for Sunday 18 June 2023 and takes the name of the HEROE Gourmet Tour, a gustatory journey to discover the Alpe di Siusi, this panoramic corner of the Dolomites and its food and wine traditions. All while riding an e-bike.
Along the two routes chosen between 25 or 35 kilometers that start from Selva and cross the Alpe di Siusi, the participants will be able to stop in the huts along the tracks to dive "in stages" into the flavors of the local cuisine: in the first hut an aperitif from enjoy in company, in the second course the courses of a typical local lunch and finally with dessert in the third hut.
