Atypical race: fast but with uphill sections to be done on foot. Haley Batten wins and convinces with its “hooded” Specialized. Her only real rival was Mona Mitterwallner who, despite her young age and small size, managed to emerge in a course made slow by the rain.
Haley Batten dominated the race practically from the start: the first lap was a chaos of crashes and traffic jams, with Batten who knew how to take a slight margin on Mitterwallner and keep it until the end. Too bad for Loana Lecomte (who had won the Short Track): a fall on a slippery bridge, she lost many positions and then didn't find the polish to recover, finishing in 8th position.
In the fight for third place great battle: Evie Richards got the better of Alessandra Keller and Caroline Bohe.
ITALIANS IN THE RACE
First of the Italian Martina Berta in 7th place, who didn't like the cyclocross-style awakening. Sara Cortinovis (Santa Cruz Rockshox Team) is 37th: she also failed to dominate the muddy Banyoles track, after showing excellent physical condition in the Short Track test. while Giulia Challancin is 42nd (Scott Racing Team).
