Great success for the Dolomiti Paganella Bike Days

Numerous appearances for the 1st edition of the Dolomiti Paganella Bike Days and the numerous events that animated the Paganella area, the bike destination that is gaining European fame.

Kissed by the sun the three days of celebration and riding which inaugurated the MTB summer season in the Paganella area, a place that has gained fame as a top destination for bikers from all over Europe. The Dolomiti Paganella Bike Days were a unique opportunity for the numerous mtb addicts who invaded the town at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites from 9 to 11 June to explore the area of ​​the bike area with the guides, test the latest bike world and take part in the many tours. A success achieved thanks to the collaboration of Red Bull and 4ActionSport – media partner of the event, ProAction, Norrøna, Kunzi, Dsb -Simply Bici, Mondraker, Rocky Mountain, and Santa Cruz, technical partners.

GUIDED TOURS ALL "SOLD OUT"

A success consolidated by important numbers: 570 Bike Passes sold and more than 5000 passes by bikers on the lifts of the Bike Area. And then the twenty-two free tours with the guides of the Bike Academy sold out. Sold out the places available for “Ride like a pro”, gravity oriented Mountain Bike courses for medium level bikers; 80 riders involved in the tour of the iconic “Bear Trail”, an enduro itinerary that crosses the best single trails of Paganella with a development of 59 km and over 4.000 meters of negative altitude with the use of ski lifts; 30 lucky for the "Sunrise Bike Trip", the epic appointment with the bikers who have chosen to have breakfast and enjoy the sunrise on the peaks of the Brenta Dolomites on their bikes. Without forgetting the e-bike tours around Lake Molveno also for children and families.

THE BIKE & PARTY AREA

On the shores of the splendid Lake Molveno, the Bike & e-bike Test Area was set up with the best world mtb producers who offered the opportunity to test the latest news and innovations of the mountain bike and e-MTB planet. And of course a lot of beer, relaxation and fun with the BBQ party on Saturday night which saw the many bikers entertained with live music.

Luca D'Angelo, Director of the APT Dolomiti Paganella expressed himself on the success of the Bike Days: “A perfect edition that of the Dolomiti Paganella Bike Days 2017, where #spiritsofmtb really felt concretely. An international conference full of stimuli and ideas, all the sold-out guided tours and a Sunrise Bike Trip on the Cima della Paganella that will remain firmly in the memories of the participants! But the main thing is the very positive feedback that comes to us from the managers of the other bike destinations present at the event, from the most important national media and above all from all the riders present. Feedback that encourages us to do even better and develop, diversifying, the trail network of our Bike Area ".

FOCUS MTB TALKS: MTB AS A TOURIST AND TERRITORIAL DEVELOPMENT VEHICLE

The Dolomiti Paganella Bike Days began on Friday 9 June with the “MTB Talks” conference, a moment of discussion and discussion with those who have made mountain biking a concrete opportunity for the development of the mountain territory. The Molveno congress center was animated thanks to the moderation of Paolo Grigolli of tsm-Trentino School of Managememt, with the interventions of the greatest experts in the mtb sector in the world, with 5 nations represented. Dominik Linser of "Solden Bike Republic", who together with Darco Cazin of Alegra Turismus exhibited the virtuous example followed by the Austrian alpine resort, protagonist of an impressive redevelopment of the area, to an audience of insiders and onlookers. in a sustainable way. “The more money you spend at the beginning, the less maintenance costs there will be in the future,” said Dominik of the resort which invested 1,5 million euros in the construction of mtb trails in the first year alone. Following Graeme McLean of Scotland MTB explained to the audience how the practice of mountain biking in Scotland has been a major driving force for tourism and economic development. In 2015, the MTB induced in Scotland reached 257 million pounds against 119 million in 2009 and which in 2025, it is estimated, will become 408 million pounds.

Also taking part was “Gravity Logic”, a trail building company famous for having designed and built some of the most iconic trails in the world. Amedeo Gadotti and Robert Cocquyt reiterated the importance of building quality trails, which are the backbone of a bike destination. Speaking also of diversification of the "bike economy", which improves the tourist economy, the guys from Gravity Logic brought for example the iconic example of Squamish in Canada, a small town that without government aid, from a location famous for the marketing of timber in 1995, it became a mountain bike mecca, with a doubled population, 48 companies linked to the mtb business and an infinite network of trails (there are 327) built by less than a dozen volunteers.

Following the interventions Christian Marsch - Norrøna sales manager - who reiterated the importance of the mountain bike market from the point of view of the manufacturer of technical clothing and Simone Lanciotti of MTB Cult. Simone, through a video intervention, highlighted the 5 points that characterize the market and the trends related to the e-bike. To close the morning part, Luca D'Angelo of Dolomiti Paganella Bike who presented the strategy behind the construction of the new sustainable trails and the information / education activity of the biker with the establishment of the "Trail Progression", which informs in detail the user of the difficulty of the routes, including the extreme attention to the culture of coexistence between bikers and pedestrians, which Paganella Bike carries out with dedicated signs ("Share the trails") and ad hoc communications.

In the afternoon, a group of 40 people made up of media, conference speakers, trail builders, managers of other destinations and led by Ezio cattani, project manager of the Bike Area, went directly to the brand new trails of the Dolomiti Paganella Bike to try and discuss on the field the issues that emerged during the morning.
