The Gravitalia National Circuit 2017 opens its doors in Pian del Poggio, a location that has already been part of the history of Italian DH having hosted several national competitions and an Italian Championship over a decade ago. The southernmost town of Lombardy, nestled between Piedmont and Emilia and a short distance from the Ligurian border, returns to host a race in grand style with a track created specifically for the event.
For Round # 2 we will move to Frabosa Soprana, which will host an event of the Gravitalia National Circuit for the third consecutive season. With its new school track that alternates steep sections with technical sections and other very fast sections, it represents a race that is difficult to interpret, in which every little mistake is paid for with a handful of seconds.
Pila, the Valle d'Aosta location known and appreciated all over the world thanks to the spectacular stage of the UCI DH World Cup in 2005 and the numerous iXS European events Downhill Cup, already home to 2 Italian DH Championships, will host Round #3 of the circuit for the second consecutive year. The track designed by Corrado Herin is a reference for variety, technical difficulties and pace, capable of bringing out the true DH champions.
Round # 4 will be held in Sestriere. The famous tourist resort that dominates the homonymous hill, on its return to the national DH scene after hosting 2 Italian specialty championships, will once again test the athletes of the Gravitalia National Circuit with its long new school track, full of jumps and large banks to be tackled at high speed, interspersed with numerous technical, characteristic and very demanding sections.
Round # 5, final of the Gravitalia National Circuit 2017, will involve the Apennines of central Italy with a location that has distinguished itself in the organization of interregional races during the past seasons. Monte Amiata, on the edge of the Tuscan Maremma area, almost on the border with Lazio, will make its debut in the Gravitalia National Circuit, celebrating the conclusion of a season that promises to be intense and engaging.
