GoPro Line of the Winter: $120.000 in prize money

GoPro launches 'GoPro Line of the Winter' competition, with a $120.000 prize pool for the best footage captured of skiers and snowboarders

Entries are open to users worldwide, and winners will be announced starting in May. $120.000 for the best footage captured of skiers and snowboarders.

GoPro (NASDAQ: GPRO) begins 2024 with exciting news for all fans of snow adventures: “GoPro Line of the Winter” has officially begun, the latest initiative that encourages skiers and snowboarders who own a GoPro to present their own best content created on the slopes: up for grabs, 120.000 dollars and the opportunity for these to be re-shared on GoPro's social channels.

Each entry must be a single, unedited clip shot with a GoPro camera and captured by the skier or snowboarder submitting it. To be eligible, the video must also be shared on social media using the hashtag #GoProLineOfTheWinter, and uploaded to the GoPro Awards platform via the Quik app or link GoPro.com/Awards. Users can submit as many videos as they want, and each piece of content will be counted as a single submission.

“In the hands of the most inspired athletes, GoPros have captured some of the most incredible trajectories and evolutions on snow ever seen, from spectacular descents by Travis Rice or the exploits of Colby Stevenson, like the one who included him among the winners of the Million Dollar Challenge” says Nick Woodman, CEO and founder of GoPro. “With the GoPro Line of the Winter challenge, we want to give even more ski and snowboard enthusiasts the chance to share their adventures with the world, and earn cash prizes from GoPro that will help them pursue their passions.”

A jury of athletes sponsored by GoPro – made up of Olympic snowboard champions Jamie Anderson and Sage Kotsenburg, eight-time X-Games slopestyle winner Tom Wallisch, three-time Freeride World Tour competitor Hedvig Wessel, and the very young Kai Jones, who despite being only sixteen has already become a phenomenon in extreme skiing – will judge the entries based on athletic performances, the quality of the video footage and the overall “wow” effect.

From January to April, $10.000 to a skier and $10.000 to a snowboarder will be awarded each month for the best footage, for a total of $80.000 for eight videos. Finally, in May, the two final winners of the "GoPro Line of Winter" will be announced and each of them will win an additional prize of 20.000 dollars.
