Good first for the e-Enduro circuit

Source: press release

The debut test of the e-Enduro circuit, the first in the world reserved exclusively for pedal assisted mountain bikes, was a success, perhaps well beyond the expectations of the organizers themselves. About a hundred bikers, in fact, showed up at the via dell'OttavoTrofeo Città di Sestri Levante, an event, for the first time ever, dedicated exclusively to e-bikes.

And it was a real race, certainly not extreme but demanding for everyone, from the less experienced who, thanks to the pedal assisted mountain bike, made their debut in the world of competitions, to the most experienced enduro riders with ambitions for the classification.

Vittorio Gambirasio won, who won the Italian Enduro Championship in Sestri Levante last year. An athlete, therefore, not only very strong but also particularly at ease on these routes.

But, for the Italian Champion it was not really a game to win and not even a walk. To contend for the success, a group of bikers of absolute value, so much so that behind him were classified Denny Lupato and Andrea Bruno.

A podium, therefore, of absolute level which, together with the presence of other very strong riders, such as Matteo Raimondi, Alessandro Gennesi, and some "old glories" of the downhill, such as Gianluca Bonanomi and Giovanna Bonazzi, both still very competitive and winners in their categories, demonstrates the interest in this new discipline also on the part of real agonists.

In reality, results aside, it was also a celebration for everyone, especially for the many amateurs who found a new exciting and competitive way to experience the passion for e-bikes.

Especially the creators of the circuit, Franco Monchiero, Cristian Trippa and Davide Bonandrini, won the not easy bet of betting on a competition format exclusively reserved for e-bikes. Evidently the times are ripe: the smiles, the comments, the tired but satisfied faces at the end of the event of these "new pioneers" of mountain biking testify to this.

Beautiful and very animated, not only by the participants but also by many enthusiasts and tourists, it was the departure and arrival area, with paddock and the whole exhibition village on the promenade of Viale delle Rimembranze always crowded and full of life

In the heart of the Ligurian village, in addition to the inflatable of the Race Events by Expotent, with the race secretariat, there were the stands of Specialized, Atala, Lapierre, Mondraker, Alpinestar, Limar, Dt, Andreani and Ohlins, Maxxis, PH 45 ° 25 ' N 11 ° 53 ', Billet Factory, Topeak, Ergon, who gave the opportunity to touch, and in some cases even test, their products. As well as taking advantage of the assistance services, such as the particular one offered by Brose with "Octopus", the innovative charging station, capable of serving 100 batteries at the same time, which was available to riders both during Saturday practice and during the race itself.

THE OCTOPUS

In short, a nice movement of e-bikers and many curious people very interested in this new type of mountain bike, animated the weekend in Sestri Levente.

More than the cold numbers, however encouraging and destined to grow, given that it was an absolute first, what Franco Monchiero wishes to underline is above all the human aspect of the event:

“I'm very happy, satisfaction is also making others have fun and, from this point of view, it almost feels like going back in time. I've seen so many people having fun and returning home with a smile on their face. Here, the quiet and carefree environment was certainly one of the most positive aspects and we are very proud for this ... "

Even if the e-bike allows you to do less effort than a traditional bike, or to go faster thanks to the help of the electric motor, especially important for uphill transfers, from a technical and athletic point of view the race, such as we said, it was challenging, as well as very beautiful.

After all, Sestri Levante is one of the Italian capitals of enduro mountain biking, precisely because of its spectacular and scenic as well as technical trails and, despite the great commitment of the organizers of PUNTO SPORT TEAM, to make this race affordable even for many beginners, these routes Ligurians remain tough. Especially if, as in the case of the e-bike race format, the special stages also include some challenging uphill stretches.

Specifically, the riders faced a course with 4 special stages, for a total of 38 km and 1.350 meters in altitude, including transfers. They then repeated twice the legendary special stage of S. Anna, already the scene of the Italian Enduro Championship in 2015, and the Ps2, called Capenardo, which also included a longer uphill stretch. And finally, the Ps, in the heart of Sestri, with the spectacular passage on the beach of the Baia del Silenzio and the worthy closing with a final party and Ligurian focaccia for everyone!

More than deserved since, even to hear the same winner, being able to make an e-bike go as fast as possible is not that easy and, if you aim for the final classification, perhaps it is even more demanding than an Enduro bike. traditional.

The appointment is now for June 4th in Massa Marittima, where the second round of the e-Enduro circuit will be held
