It was June 2, 2021 and Gerhard Kerschbaumer was winning in Val Casies at the Internazionali d'Italia. Surely it was not the Gerry who in 2018 put Schurter and Van Der Poel behind, but in this 2022 there has been an involution in the results.
One year later, Gerhard wins the international (class 1) of Raiffeisen Osterreich GP in Windhaag bei Perg (Austria). Surely this victory is an injection of confidence in the South Tyrolean even if the order of arrival does not present athletes who have shown exciting performances in the World Cup: Maximilian Foidl is a good athlete who participated in the Tokyo Olympics, finishing in 17th place. (Kerschbaumer was 20th) but this year has not yet demonstrated the value achieved in previous years.
In a story from the last few days, it seems that the South Tyrolean wants to participate in the Sellaronda Hero, one of the toughest marathon races in the world with 4500m of altitude difference. Surely Gerry will have to make a decision if his results do not improve in level: the talent is there, you just have to find it.
