In the competitions of Downhill on Saturday the Briton Tahnée Seagrave made an encore after her 2017 victory, getting the better of compatriot Rachel Atherton in the women's field. The blues did well in the race with Eleonora Farina eighth and Alia Marcellini eleventh, both returning to the competitions in this event after a long absence due to injury.
Among men, Frenchman Amaury Pierron tamed the legendary “Black Snake”, the most difficult downhill in the world, taking his third consecutive World Cup victory and securing the leadership of the circuit. Behind him, the British Laurie Greenland and Danny Hart closed very close.
Yesterday the races opened with the cross country women, won by the Polish Maja Wloszczowska in front of the Canadian Emily Batty and the Swiss champion Jolanda Neff. In the men's XCO the public went into a frenzy from the first lap, which saw the blue Luca Braidot take the lead in the initial stages, and remained in suspense until the final sprint that handed the victory to the world champion Nino Schurter ahead of the tricolor Gerhard Kerschbaumer, who lost 6 ″ in the final descent to the Swiss champion who is increasingly in command of the overall standings of the Cup.
