With a 15% or 42% increase in autonomy (depending on the new batteries fitted, respectively 720 Wh and 900 Wh, designed by Canyon), a total weight of only 21,8 kg (relative to the Spectral: ON CFR with 720 Wh battery in size M), 155 mm of rear travel, 150 mm of travel at the front and mullet set-up, the Canyon Spectral: ON is one of the lightest and most dynamic "full-size" E-MTBs available on the market - despite the enormous increase in autonomy.

Getting the right balance between great range and driving fun isn't easy. Some even think it's science fiction. Installing the largest battery possible on a bicycle doesn't mean creating something fantastic automatically. In fact, adding more cells generally also increases the weight of the frame. The end result can be a heavy, unbalanced bike that handles with the grace and precision of a high-speed train. As this doesn't seem to be much fun, with the new Spectral: ON Canyon has chosen to go a completely different path and designed a completely new frame, as well as developing a new battery cell architecture that expands both range and ride quality. . The result is an e-mountain bike that gives riders the two things they want most: exceptional ride quality and the power to ride all day.
Lighter. More rigid. More resistant.
Canyon completely redesigned the frame of the Spectral: ON and eliminated a huge weight from its frame. The new frames are now fully carbon, including the rear triangle. The new carbon layup layups and the even more efficient structure allowed us to gain strength while reducing weight. Alongside the CF frame, which now weighs just 3,180g, the Spectral: ON platform is also available, for the first time, in the exclusive CFR version, with a lighter frame of just 2,880g. The stiffness, strength and core characteristics of the frame remain the same in both CFR and CF platforms. Weight savings on the CFR frame were achieved by changing material and layering. Plus, as befits a bike designed to be put to the test on the most demanding trails, both CF and CFR frames now meet the high and rigorous “Category 4E” resistance standards.

To create a truly bomb-proof monster, Canyon worked by reinforcing the stiffness of the rear by adding a bridge between the seat stays and using sturdy ball bearings that work on solid 15mm axles - on both the main axle and seat tube. These solutions lead to a suspension that remains fluid even in difficult conditions and a better duration over time. A less obvious (but no less important) advantage is attributable to the better handling, given precisely by the introduction of these additional connections at the rear. When riders push to the limit they will really appreciate these tricks.
More autonomy. Less weight. More power.
By arranging the battery cells horizontally, Canyon has created a more compact and efficient configuration. The placement of the battery inside the frame has also been optimized by tilting the Shimano EP8 motor upwards at an angle of 30 degrees. This allowed Canyon to place the battery in front of the engine instead of on top of it. The end result is a lower center of gravity and even, balanced weight distribution that gives the Spectral: ON incredible levels of traction on any terrain, even when cornering. Thanks to its powerful 720 Wh or 900 Wh battery, the Spectral: ON eliminates “range anxiety” with a 15% / 42% increase in capacity compared to standard batteries allowing riders to enjoy full days of MTB.

Playful and now more capable than ever.
The new Spectral: ON is longer, lower and more open than the previous version. But it's not the most extreme E-MTB available on the market, and that's for good reason: Canyon didn't have the goal of building a new e-Gravity or e-Enduro bike. The Spectral: ON was created to be the ultimate bike: that is an E-MTB that is at ease both on steep and technical trails and on flow singletrack, and does not mind even a few outings in bikepark.
The secret recipe? The reach of the Spectral: ON, increased by 25mm for each frame size, offers a safe and centered riding position that increases control on steep and difficult trails. In addition, the head angle has been opened by one degree while the chainstays have been lengthened by 5 millimeters to increase stability and overall balance. Finally, Canyon has shortened the length of the seat tube by about 20 millimeters to allow greater freedom of movement, therefore to increase stability and fun. Combined with the lighter, stiffer frame and mullet wheels, these modest (but significant) changes ensure a lively and playful ride quality, while simultaneously increasing both stability at high speeds and confidence on steep and difficult trails.
They say it is impossible to find a manageable, playful and performing e-MTB at the same time. But we allow ourselves to disagree. The all-new Spectral: ON is proof that you can have everything you want. FUN: ON.

Availability
Both Canyon Spectral: ON CFR and Spectral: ON CFR LTD are available in all markets (excluding the US) starting April 5th, and three CF models will follow in May. At first, both CFR models will only be available with the larger 900Wh battery. Riders will be able to choose between the 720Wh and 900Wh battery option on all CF and CFR models starting in May. All Spectral: ON models in size S are fitted as standard with 720Wh batteries due to the small size of the down tube.
Canyon Spectral: ON CFR and CFR LTD in detail
The Spectral: ON CFR LTD (21,94 kg with 720 Wh battery / 22,85 kg with 900 Wh battery) is equipped with the brand new and exclusive RockShox Flight Attendant suspensions; a RockShox Lyric Ultimate Flight Attendant fork with 150mm of travel at the front and a RockShox Super Deluxe Ultra Flight Attendant shock with 155mm of travel at the rear. The absence of cables is guaranteed by the SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS drivetrain and the SRAM Reverb AXS seat post. This dream set-up is complemented by the DT Swiss HXC 1501 carbon wheelset, SRAM Code RSC brakes and the cockpit (Canyon designed in-house) which features a partially integrated cable routing to create an extremely clean look.
