This week the shortest XC world cup in history begins and ends. Only one stage, that of Nové Město na Moravě, will see the best riders of the cross country battle it out on one of the circuit's most interesting tracks not once, but twice. To make up for the time lost in the Czech Republic, a double stage will be staged which will give us 4 races in 6 days, all live on Red Bull TV. The double round of the UCI MTB World Cup XCO begins in the late afternoon today with the Short Track which will serve to establish the starting grids for the two XCO races scheduled for Thursday 1 October. At 17:00 the XCO women open is scheduled, at 17:45 it will be the men's turn. The two events will be broadcast live on Red Bull TV which will start connecting at 16pm, as will the second XCC round on Friday 30 and the second and final XCO round on Sunday 2.
After eight long months it is time to find out how the best riders in the world have mentally and physically faced the lockdown period, in a literally upset season. On a fast, technical track that never fails to offer excitement, the Swiss will try to defend the title won a year ago. Nino Schurter and the American Kate Courtney, in an Italian key we focus above all on Gerhard Kerschbaumer and the Italian champions Luca Braidot and Eva Lechner (watch the video dedicated to the favorites on www.redbull.com, ed). The 2020 Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike season Cross-Country The World Cup didn't quite go as planned, but the restart of the World Cup is a good sign and a vital test ahead of the upcoming (October 5-11) World Championships in Leogang, Austria.
If already from this afternoon the Short Track and XCO fans will be able to feast their eyes after the long lack of competitions, for the World Cup of Downhill we will have to wait for mid-October. In the meantime, however, after the very long break that lasted from Crankworx Rotorua at the beginning of March, the tightrope walkers of slopestyle and DH will be back on stage on 3rd and 4th October at Crankworx Innsbruck. Another appointment not to be missed live on Red Bull TV. The wait is over, let the show begin.
