Fontana: some advice in view of the Fingers Cross

Vernasca, November 19th. Marco Aurelio Fontana organizes the Fingers Cross, where he tribulates with style. Write down the date because if you want an event different from the usual, stylish and with the right atmosphere, I have the race for you. I thought, designed and created it… now you just have to run it!

Good morning! It is Tuesday morning in Castell'Arquato and I am writing to you as usual to tell you some organizational and logistical things.

I believe that to get to Vernasca there are no problems for anyone, and up to here everything is fine, then once you arrive in the town there will be the main square (Piazza Vittoria) with some teams parked and shortly after, about 200 m, a parking lot. on the left where you can leave your car, as well as in the other free spaces you find on the street.
From Piazza Vittoria you just have to go up the stairs to get to the Pieve, headquarters of the organization, where you will find the welcoming Redbull tent, the judges and the real meeting place for registration.
I remind you again that if you are an FCI member you must register on Factor K (or let your Team do it) otherwise you cannot participate, instead all the bodies of the consultation will register on the spot. Non-members will be able to get a day pass.
As for the showers, they are about 400 m from the main square and are at the sports field (you will find some signs) at the end of via Mazzoni.

Moving on to more technical topics, I tell you my personal set up and at the same time some tips:

- 40 front gears with 11 × 36 cassette
- 35 mm tires with inner tube (and I carry one with me as a spare)
- handlebar 440 mm

Basically, prepare reports that are good even on beautiful banks and "generous" tires but above all bring a kit in case you have to puncture because you have to get by yourself!
There will be track closers with some fast and inner tubes but if you are prepared it is always better.

NB. DO NOT COME WITH ROAD TIRES EVEN 28 MM BECAUSE YOU STAY ON FOOT

I wrote it to you because a friend of mine called me and told me he will come like this, and that he has disc brakes so he feels fine. Nein nein nein… off road tires please.

Oh right, I left you last time telling you that I would explain something to you about the starting grids that will be done through self-declaration: there will be BOXES and everyone will be free to put himself in what he "declares" to belong to ...

Well Fingers, see you next time!

Cheers
