Strange characters crowded the Piacenza hills yesterday on bicycles of all kinds. The mud and fog did not discourage Marco Aurelio Fontana's fans, who gathered in Vernasca for the Red Bull Fingers Cross 2018.
Regardless of the difficulty of the scheduled pedaling, there are those who showed up in tandem, some disguised as a unicorn. Given the abundant rains on the eve, which made the gravel challenge created by Bianchi Countervail's Prorider even more extreme, someone equipped themselves with a bathrobe and shower cap or with a mask, fins, speargun and weights in perfect diving style. Among red clown noses, angel wings and hunter's camouflage uniforms, 120 two-wheel enthusiasts had fun and challenged themselves on the roads of their favorite's home. At their side also other fat tire professionals, including Prorider teammates Chiara Teocchi and Nadir Colledani, and twins Luca and Daniele Braidot, who for the occasion showed off the football shirt of Holly and Benji's Derrick twins.
Despite the numerous mechanical troubles and a lot of effort, everyone reached the beautiful Pieve di Vernasca with breathlessness (the steps of the final staircase will remain in the legs for a few days!) And a very wide smile.
