Ferrand-Prèvot and Sam Gaze star performers in the French Cup

Tom Pidcock retires in the men's race with a mechanical failure.

Pauline Ferrand Prevot Ineos

This weekend saw Ferrand-Prévot's first appearance in a mountain bike race for the Ineos Grenadiers. He didn't disappoint expectations by winning with the Ineos kit, conquering a convincing victory.

The four-time MTB world champion won solo by crossing the finish line over two minutes ahead of second-placed Léna Gerault (Berria Vittoria Factory Team). Annie Last (Lapierre Mavic Unity) completed the podium of the day.

MEN'S RACE

After Ferrand-Prévot's strong performance among the women, Pidcock's first XCO race of the year didn't go so well. Recall that the Olympic champion took to the podium in the short track race in Guéret the previous day and on the podium of Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2023 on the road.

Sam Gaze French Cup

According to Ineos Grenadiers, Pidcock was "forced out after a mechanical problem".

New Zealander Sam Gaze (Alpecin-Deceuninck), with a short track victory already in the pocket, also went on to win the cross-country race.

Pidcock and Ferrand-Prévot will both return to racing next weekend in Switzerland at the OKK Bike Revoltion, aiming to be top notch for the first MTB World Cup race of the year at Nové Město in the Czech Republic.

ppgad@pucrs.br I am passionate about everything that has 2 wheels: in my youth I practiced competitive cycling on the road and on the track with good results. At the age of 18 I moved to cross country competing at national/international level as U23. Once I passed Elite, I made the choice to take things easier from the training point of view, and that's how my love for gravity disciplines was born, training as an FCI MTB instructor and guide. Now I have made my passion my profession by managing 3 MTB centers on the island of Elba (Elba MTB), creating the FANTAmtb and telling in an ironic but professional way, everything that revolves around MTB thanks to 365mountainbike and 365TV (YouTube 'PULITI dentro BIKER fuori').
