Ella Conolly (Cannondale Enduro) and Jack Moir (Canyon Collective) won the first round (Pro Stage) at EWS Burke 2022. Fantastic victory for Sophie Riva (Ancillotti) among the Under21s.
Conolly from Scotland shrugged off her elbow injury during theEWS in Val Di Fassa ahead of compatriot Bex Baraona (Yeti / Fox Factory Team) by about 5,5 seconds. The German Raphaela Richter, of the Ibis Enduro Team, is third more than two seconds behind Baraona. The leader of the circuit, Isabeau Courdurier of the Lapierre Zipp Collective, finished 12th. Trek Factory Racing's Whistler winner Harriet Harnden finished fourth. Fantastic 5th place for the Italian Gloria Scarsi!
In the EWS Men, 2021 series champion Moir set a fantastic 6: 04.48, on a course, which was significantly less slippery in the rocky and root-filled technical upper part than Saturday morning's free practice.
Rocky Mountain Race Face EWS circuit leader Jesse Melamed is just under a second behind the Australian. And American Richie Rude completed the top three, 1,78 seconds behind Moir. Another challenge is expected between the 3 greats of enduro! Mirko Vendemmia is far from the first, probably due to various problems.
The U21 Women was won by the Italian Sophie Riva with Paz Gallo Fuentes from Chile in second place and the American Lauren Bingham in third. In the Men's U21 it was another victory for the Australian Luke Meier-Smith (Propain Factory Racing) with a time that would have placed him in 6th place in the Men's Pro. His compatriot Ryan Gilchrist placed 2nd and Whistler winner Seth Sherlock 3rd.
