A challenging course inspired by the technical level of the World Cup is announced
“For us, the arrival in Internazionali d'Italia Series is the culmination of a long journey”. There is enthusiasm for the arrival of the great Cross Country in Esanatoglia (Macerata), one of the most beautiful villages in Italy nestled between the Sibillini Mountains. Santoporo XC is the title of the event valid as the third stage of the most important Italian Cross Country circuit (April 30 – May 1), a C1 category event that promises to attract protagonists and provide spectacle and emotions.
Entry into the Internazionali d'Italia Series calendar is the result of the work of the organizers of the Superbike Team and ASD Gruppo Esatrail, and of a journey that began ten years ago. “I remember that we went to attend a stage of the Internazionali d'Italia Series in Montichiari, several years ago now, and we promised ourselves that we too would try to enter the circuit one day. Today we can say that we succeeded,” says Superbike Team General Manager Rossano Mazzieri.
“The growth of our event - continues Mazzieri - is the result of the union between the Superbike Team and the Esatrail Group, an ASD that has started to take care of the paths of the Municipality of Esanatoglia and all the Sibillini Mountains. Our project was born in 2018 but builds on a previous experience in the MTB world.”
The history of MTB in Esanatoglia boasts deep roots in the youth movement. “Our off-road cycling school was founded in 1988 and our attention has always been focused on Cross Country,” explains Mazzieri. – “Over the years we have managed to launch two excellent athletes like Alessandro Naspi and Letizia Marzani, who have also achieved good results at the Internazionali d'Italia Series.”
The technical staff is working on the details of the circuit that will host the Internazionali d'Italia Series event on Sunday 30 April and the youth competitions on Monday 1 May. 4000 metres long with 160 metres of elevation gain per lap, the Santoporo XC track will be created inside a motocross circuit, taking advantage of the slopes of a hill. “It is a purely natural route, to which we have added artificial passages capable of making it more technical and in step with the demands of modern Cross Country. It is a very lively track, with many ups and downs inspired by the example of famous World Cup tracks.”
Santoporo XC is an event sponsored by the Marche Region, the Province of Macerata, the Municipality of Esanatoglia and CONI Marche. Together with the local and sporting bodies, Halley Informatica, CTF Automazioni, Autotrasporti Falzetti, Chemiba, Plasgomma, Euromarketing, Castellino and Adamo also support the event.
