The week's rain had left the typical Derby slabs muddy, slippery and unpredictable and in the women's race it was the British who looked more at ease. Harriet Harnden (Trek Factory Racing) took the first stage, but Baraona was just two seconds behind with Ella Conolly (Cannondale Enduro Team) in fourth trying to keep up.
The final stage, Kamma-Gutza, was decisive, with Baraona taking victory on the longest stage of the day to take the lead in the standings. Also the Scottish Conolly climbed on the podium conquering the 3rd place.
France's Isabeau Courdurier (Lapierre Zipp Collective) struggled to match hers Maydena's winning pace after sustaining a leg injury in a crash earlier in the week but fought back to take 4th place. Morgane Charre (Pivot Factory Racing) is fifth.
In the men's race, Yeti/Fox Racing teammates Richie Rude and Slawomir Lukasik exchanged jabs throughout the day. The pair conquered 5 stages of the 6 planned. Only 2022 champion Jesse Melamed (Canyon CLLCTV Factory Enduro Team) managed to snatch a stage from the pair.
In the end Rude made the difference in the last stage by taking the victory. Lukasik's two stage victories were enough for second place of the day and Melamed completed the podium. YT Mob's Jack Moir and Orbea Fox Enduro Team's Martin Maes both improved on their first round results to take fourth and fifth places at the Derby.
In the U21 women's race dominance for New Zealander Erice Van Leuven (Commencal Les Orres) who won all six stages. More than a minute and a half ahead of Canada's Elly Hoskin. Australian Lia Ladbrook finished third. The Italian Sophie Riva is sixth.
In the U21 men's race, first round winner Sascha Kim came out on top again after winning three stages. His compatriot Cooper Lowe is second and Frenchman Lisandru Bertini (Lapierre Zipp Collective) is third.
Now we arrive in Italy, precisely in Finale Ligure, for the third round (June 3-4)! Here you are the general Enduro World Cup classifications while below the classifications of the stage.
