The Scottish brand is committed to planting one million trees a year to help reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere.
Endura, a Scottish brand specializing in the design and manufacture of clothing, protections and accessories for the cycling sector, launched the global “One Million Trees” campaign in 2020. The company, aware of its environmental impact, has been working for some time on various fronts to reduce carbon emissions related to the production of its products (the textile industry in the world is second only to oil in this ranking).
Endura products have been PFC Free since 2018, the company offers a repair service to its customers and 1% of the net profit is donated to worldwide associations that work for the protection and safeguarding of the environment.
Since 2020, thanks to the partnership with Lancaster University's Pentland Center for Sustainability in Business and the results of an ongoing research at the UK Center, Endura has also decided to commit to planting one million trees a year and thus helping to reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere.
As its first project, Endura chose to restore the mangroves of Maputo Bay, Mozambique. The Scottish company will work with local communities to restore, replant and protect these vital forest systems, providing important habitats for endangered species of birds and mammals and providing jobs for the local population.
"We don't have the luxury of time - said Endura founder and CEO Jim McFarlane, who added - the only goal we need to focus on now is the climate emergency and the need to break down the amount of carbon in our atmosphere. Once the polar caps have melted, there is nothing we can do to remedy them. We hope, with our One Million Trees initiative, to be able to raise awareness as many companies as possible in the textile industry and beyond ".
Endura's initiative and mission fits perfectly with the philosophy of B-Factory, Outoor Agency that imports and distributes Endura products in Italy. Suffice it to say that at the end of 2019, through an accurate redesign, B-Factory implemented important changes in a sustainable key to its shoroom and its offices.
Larch boards from Valfurva were used for the cladding of some ceilings and walls (recovered from the massacre of trees that occurred in October 2018) while for the subdivision of the rooms birch trunks, from the Valpola forests (recovered from the 1987 landslide in Valtellina). To reduce waste, the snowboards returned under warranty have been recycled and the installation of photovoltaic solar panels is planned that will allow the production and exploitation of clean energy at the expense of the use of fossil fuels.
"We are really proud to represent Endura's values in Italy - declared Pietro Colturi, CEO & Founder B-Factory, and Luca Cozza, Sales Manager Endura Italia, who added - with our brands, we have always promoted and organized initiatives and campaigns aimed at raising awareness of public opinion and sportspeople towards ethical behavior and respect for the environment that hosts us. We are pleased to know that a brand we represent in Italy has decided to undertake such a noble path. We will make it ours and contribute to the spread of this important message in our country ”.
