WHAT YOU WILL SEE IN THE VIDEO

On a beautiful sunny day, I had the pleasure of sharing a day with friends from Torreano Bike Land (who I invite you to follow on social media INSTAGRAM) with the aim of knowing the routes of the Cividale area.
In the past I have already had the opportunity to experience and film the historic paths of the Torreano Bike Land and in the last period I have seen new projects arise which I welcomed with enthusiasm such as the opening of the new Pala Trail.
The track is brand new and was inaugurated in 2022 by Wyn Master, a rider loved by the mountain bike public for his friendliness as well as being very fast and at the top of the international enduro and downhill.

But in today's episode I want to talk to you about the path that is most iconic in terms of fame and history in the Torreano Bike Land area, known both by amateurs and agonists from the North East since it was included in some national enduro races.

I'm talking about the Falco Trail, a path that the more technical would define as OLD SCHOOL, that is, a pleasant route to ride with a "certain flow" without leading to artificial constructions or Bike Park banks. If you read us from the North West I can tell you that the "Falco Trail* resembles a mix between the paths of Coggiola and Pogno with the difference that the terrain in Friuli Venezia Giulia is much less forgiving... In the sense that the rock becomes VERY SLIPPERY even with just a rain and the ground creates a very thin layer that resembles ice. It's a strange feeling to communicate to you behind a written text, for this reason I invite you to go and try it in person 🙂

THIS VIDEO IS DEDICATED TO…

If you are a biker with already good experience on a bike, you have come to the right video for you. In fact this is a path dedicated to those people with good experience. Nothing impossible or too technical but some passages cannot be tackled by a person new to mountain biking. For beginners I recommend taking the Pala Trail again in Torreano.

TORREANO AND A LONG TRADITION OF MOUNTAIN BIKE

If fat wheels have caught on in Torreano, it is thanks to Tarci and the Valchiarò team which is a historic association of the area which has been involved for decades in the creation of sporting events such as national competitions and the formation of competitive teams in the world of cross country.

3 THE NATISONE VALLEYS

Connected to Cividale and the Isonzo Valley, the Natisone Valleys are located in the easternmost part of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. It is in fact a geographical area located on the border between Friuli and Slovenia and is made up of a set of four valleys: Natisone, Alberone, Cosizza and Erbezzo. These are dominated by Mount Matajur, from whose grassy summit it is possible to see the Adriatic Sea.
The Natisone Valleys (or Nediške Doline in Slovenian) are characterized by meadows and forests of ash, chestnut and hazel trees and many animal species live along its paths, such as foxes, wild boars and sometimes it is even possible to find bears.

Cividale and Natisone Valleys

Given the proximity to the border, Slovenian cultures, customs and traditions are deeply felt along the valleys. The dishes of the Natisone Valleys differ based on seasonal products; the most common are "bizna", a soup of brovada and potatoes, "stakanje", a mashed potato and seasonal vegetables; “zlicnjaki”, flour dumplings, and corn, pumpkin and chestnut soups.
Along these valleys there are traces of modern history, such as the remains of military roads and defensive lines from the First World War, and of ancient history, such as the remains of hillforts, medieval fortified structures and Roman settlements.
Finally, in the Natisone Valleys it is possible to enter the cave of San Giovanni d'Antro, which today is considered a place of worship and inside houses a small late Gothic rock church.

4 WHAT IS THE SYMBOLIC MOUNTAIN OF THE NATISONE VALLEYS?

Mount Matajur is a mountain in the Julian Prealps that rises up to 1641 meters high. This hill, which overlooks the Friulian town of Cividale, is considered the symbol of the Natisone Valleys.
Mount Matajur, with its particular conical shape, represents a naturalistic attraction that undoubtedly deserves to be visited. Alongside the beauty of the landscapes and colours, it is worth mentioning some attractions not to be missed.
