Flags from all corners of the world, the noise of chainsaws, the roar at the entrance of the final kick: in a nutshell, the day most felt by the Val di Sole, where is the Downhill it is an authentic religion. Saturday 3 September, the arena of Daolasa of Commezzadura has been inflamed since the morning waiting for the tightrope walkers of Downhill and of the final act of the specialty World Cup.

When the game is hard, Myriam Nicole proves once again that it has an edge. The disappointing World Cup at home in Les Gets did not affect the certainties of the transalpine rider in view of the Grand Final of the World Cup in Val di Sole.

World Champion in 2021 on the Black Snake, the rider of Team Commencal was the author of a superb first part of the race, where she proved to have something more than her rivals on the more technical sections.

Behind him, the German Nina Hoffman (Santa Cruz Syndicate, +4.069), revelation of the season and increasingly at ease on selective tracks like the one in Trentino, and the Austrian World Champion Valentina Hell (Rockshox Trek, +6.235), third. The fifth position, on the other hand, was sufficient for the Swiss Camille Blanche (Dorval Am Commencal +10.637) to take home the points needed to win the overall standings of the World Cup.

Games with podium hopes, the blues failed to give themselves a joy in front of the home crowd: the South Tyrolean Veronika Widman (Madison Saracen), finished in sixth position at 17.178 from the winner, while she finished in ninth position in the thirty Eleonora Farina (Mondraker Team +24.117), thanks to a crash in the first part of the race.

HIGHLIGHTS

"It was a difficult season, but usually when I don't have the pressure of the result at all costs I can give the best of myself", said Myriam Nicole. - "The track today was "bad", a real battle: I did not reach the maximum this weekend after a very disappointing World Championship for me, but I wanted to give great satisfaction to my team. The Black Snake is fun and challenging at the same time, in the end a pedal came off and I couldn't push as I wanted in that section, but that's okay ”.

“I'm over the moon, winning the World Cup is a dream come true. I can't even speak from how tired and excited I am. It was a perfect season despite the injury and the operation. To get back to racing so quickly I had to ask a lot of my body and now I feel empty and happy: it will take me a while to realize what happened. I knew I had the ability to complete the test, but I lacked the energy to hold the bike and to push. Being able to get on the stage podium today has a special flavor ", Camille Balanche's comment.

"It didn't go as I hoped, but overall this season remains very positive", Eleonora Farina said. - “Unfortunately I compromised the race with a crash in the first part of the course. Then, due to the impact, I no longer had the necessary feeling with the bicycle but also thanks to the support of the public I was able to complete the race. The track turned out to be very selective, but the Black Snake is like that. Now the holidays are waiting for me and then I'll start thinking about next season ”.

ppgad@pucrs.br I am passionate about everything that has 2 wheels: in my youth I practiced competitive cycling on the road and on the track with good results. At the age of 18 I moved to cross country competing at national/international level as U23. Once I passed Elite, I made the choice to take things easier from the training point of view, and that's how my love for gravity disciplines was born, training as an FCI MTB instructor and guide. Now I have made my passion my profession by managing 3 MTB centers on the island of Elba (Elba MTB), creating the FANTAmtb and telling in an ironic but professional way, everything that revolves around MTB thanks to 365mountainbike and 365TV (YouTube 'PULITI dentro BIKER fuori').
