The third round of the e-Enduro powered by Specialized circuit was a race of the past.
Characterized by bad weather, it saw the paths of Pogno return to competitions thanks to the masterful work of the volunteers of the ASD I Gufi who, despite the pouring rain, were able to offer competitors a high quality race.
When the going gets tough then even the e-riders begin to fight, because it was a real fight against the rain and against the prohibitive conditions of the special stages.
The Pogno weekend got off to a great start with all the participants fully charged and ready to find the perfect race setting under a pouring rain, covered in mud, with poor grip on the ground, fogged visors, cold and numerous falls, nevertheless the e -riders throughout the day on Saturday continued to try without ever giving up. Pogno, thanks to its flow routes, has for years been one of the reference destinations for bikers from northern Italy, who flock to the I Gufi trails on weekends to train or to spend a simple day riding with friends. On these paths Davide Sottocornola (Team Cicobikes DSB Nonsolofango) excelled for many years by winning the tricolor jersey in 2012 and saw his young teammate Simone Martinelli (Team Cicobikes DSB Nonsolofango), 2018 e-Enduro Vice-Champion, take his first steps At the end of the day of testing, the participants/exhibitors were able to take part in the now famous "Aperi-Briefing", i.e. the technical meeting of the pilots with the head of the judges, route manager and our Franco Monchiero, all accompanied by rivers of beer, gastronomic specialties and good music. In the Expo area, in addition to the consolidated exhibitors such as Specialized, Brose, Vittoria, Fox, Monitou, Andreani Group, Ohlins, Haibike, Ridewill, Husqvarna, Mr.Wolf, Resolvbike, Atala, the historic Italian bike brand, also made a welcome return to the circuit with numerous e-bike products.
Sunday morning, the weather continues to give no respite and after a night of incessant rain the organization, in agreement with the judges and drivers, unfortunately decides to eliminate the PS2 and 4 for their total impracticability. A difficult choice but that did not affect the spectacularity and difficulty of the route, in fact the race, despite only one very long special stage (over 10 minutes !!!) to be repeated twice, was fought until the last corner.
Right from the start he saw Andrea Garibbo (Haibike Factory Team Italia) and the home rider, Davide Sottocornola (CicoBikes DSB Nonsolofango) fight. The winner for a few seconds was Davide who with a crazy PS2 managed to completely overturn the result of PS1, winning the third round of the e-Enduro circuit. In third place is the other home rider Simone Martinelli (CicoBikes DSB Nonsolofango).
Among the women domination of Alia Marcellini (Team Cingolani-trek) at her first ebike test in the e-Enduro circuit, followed by Chiara Pastore (Team Locca) and laura Rossin (Soul Cycles Racing)

At the end of the stage the words of the winner Davide Sottocornola: “I finally succeeded. Beating Andrea was not easy because the boy is really strong and I thought I couldn't do it. After PS1 I was 8 seconds behind but in PS2 I pushed hard and it went well… very well indeed. I am really happy to be back to victory right in Pogno where in 2012 my title of Italian Enduro champion came to life. Now the championship has reopened, it won't be easy but I will do my best to win it "
Here are the words of the winner Alia Marcellini: “How cool !!! I really enjoyed it. As usual, until you try an e-bike seriously on challenging routes you cannot understand its potential and the effort you can do. I would like to try to do other races but unfortunately this year I have already made many competitive commitments and I think it will be difficult, let's see, however next year I would like to evaluate the possibility of being able to do all the tests on the circuit because it is really fun even in bad weather conditions "
In short, mud, rain, and slippery paths did not take away the smile from the competitors who were graced by the weather only on Sunday afternoons. The “pasta party” at the end of the race offered by I Gufi was also fantastic, which turned into a big party with all the participants, accompanying persons and exhibitors all seated in the long tables of the Pogno sports hall. It is a duty to thank all the volunteers, sponsors and participants who, despite the bad weather, still did an incredible job on and off the trails.
Next appointment on 22-23 June in Val di Pejo for the fourth round of the e-Enduro circuit powered by Specialized
