Dainese D-air® Bike: the first airbag system for Downhill

The highest level of innovation in protective technology, to express maximum freedom and performance.

During the race weekend of Downhill of Les Gets, valid for the UCI World Cup 2024, the athletes of the Dainese Pirelli Canyon CLLCTV team raced with the prototype of the Dainese D-air® Bike, the first airbag for the downhill, the latest evolution of the most innovative protective technology for dynamic sports, invented by Dainese.

The Dainese D-air® airbag system is the maximum evolution of protection, designed to support athletes and riders in fast disciplines, from motorcycling to alpine skiing, up to MTB gravity, giving the security of expressing one's potential without limitations. Thanks to the electronic control unit equipped with accelerometers, gyroscopes and GPS and a sophisticated algorithm, the system autonomously recognizes the dynamics of a fall and activates the Shield, the patented microfilament airbag bag - when needed, protecting the athlete from the impact.

Dainese D-air® has revolutionized protection in dynamic sports: the first activation in the official MotoGP race in 2007, from the 2018 season the airbag becomes mandatory for all MotoGP riders. In 2016 the introduction in the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup, from the 2024-2025 season the airbag system will be mandatory for all athletes in Downhill and Super-G World Cup races.

At the UCI DHI World Cup 2024 in Les Gets, the athletes of the Dainese Pirelli Canyon CLLCTV team wore the Dainese D-air® Bike prototype in an official context, the first airbag system for Downhill.

Dainese once again takes innovation to unprecedented levels, to give every athlete the freedom and security to express their potential to the fullest. Towards the protection of tomorrow.
