Mol's pre-Christmas event (8th edition) ran in the evening at 17:30 in Mol, in Belgium, in Flanders. Fast but spectacular course: lots of people and artificial lighting. We saw the magnificent 3 at the start, namely Mathieu Van Der Poel, Wout Van Aert and Tom Pidcock. 89 athletes at the start with all the best present on a slightly rainy day but with a dry course.

The track had several stretches of sand that favored those with hydroelectric plant wattages on their own. Just like Van Aert, who also has excellent running skills. At the beginning of the second lap Tom Pidcock gave the first rev and began to lengthen the group, with Van der Poel and Van Aert ready in the first positions. In front also Laurens Sweeck who always proves to be in top form. At the end of the fourth lap, Mathieu Van Der Poel and Wout Van Aert set a pace that was impossible for the others to keep. Not even Pidcock and Sweeck can keep up with the 2 talents.

Wout Van Aert today was a day of grace: Van Der Poel tried to keep the Belgian's horses at bay but during the 7th lap of the 9 planned, Van Aert launched a devastating attack in one of the many sand sections, increasing the advantage in the footrace section. Meanwhile Pidcock managed to recover by taking both Sweeck and Hermans off the wheel. Van Aert goes on to win with a 53″ lead over Van der Poel and 1'18” over the world champion Pidcock. Stellar podium.
