Next World Cup stop in Antwerp and chance to see a unique show with Mathieu Van der Poel, Wout Van Aert and Tom Pidcock at the start! In the last stage of the world cup we have already seen a challenge between Van der Poel and Pidcock, with a showdown by the VdP. Tom Pidcock seemed to be the only one able to keep pace with the Dutchman.
Antwerp will be the debut test for Wout van Aert, who delayed his cyclo-cross debut by a week. This is how the first big three-way duel of the 2022-2023 cyclocross season presents itself.
The three cyclo-cross stars will arrive at the event with different physical conditions. Tom Pidcock is the most fueled athlete of the 3 as he has already taken part, and won, in cyclo-cross events. But we have seen that adaptation doesn't exist in athletes of this caliber, with Van Der Poel's victory on his debut in the mud. In the last stage of the cup, we saw a Van Der Poel make various mistakes but, despite this, he released watts that no one had in his legs. Not even Pidcock was able to keep up with the Dutchman's wild pace.
Mathieu van der Poel seems to have left behind physical back problems and worked very well in spain in retreat with the team. The Belgian Wout Van Aert has planned a very busy Christmas period, but we are curious to see his form in his debut. Last season he won 9 of the 10 UCI cyclo-cross races he took part in, although later he preferred not to go to the World Championships in the USA, won by Pidcock.
WHERE TO SEE THE RACE?
