Bernardo Cruz, born in 1991, is a Brazilian athlete supported in the past by Red Bull and very active in Freeride and Urban DH races. 5 times national DH champion and 2 times winner of the Urban Taxco (here the video of the 2015 edition).
Cruz was the victim of a serious fall, fortunately without consequences, during a test of the 'Ultimate Urban Enduro' circuit. Here is the video.
As you can see, it arrived long: too much speed on ramp entry compared to landing which, to be precise, is a bit sacrificed in length (short). I say this by seeing the rider behind and also other videos with this ramp where the athletes always reached the edge of the plate. This situation could have been solved with a longer landing but, being a fixed structure, the athletes will have had to touch the brake or 'scrubb' well in order not to get flat during the race.
A similar landing would put any type of material under stress: perhaps it is not evident from the video but it is the same dynamic as throwing yourself dead weight off the roof of a house, with a bike under your butt, and hoping that nothing breaks.
Here are the memorable comments to the video 🙂
