Fabian Rabensteiner and Wout Alleman won stage one of the 2023 Cape Epic.
This sentence simply sums up the day of Wilier Triestina Pirelli Factory Team, there are no words to describe the joy of the entire team in seeing the two athletes cross the finish line with their arms raised.

The first road stage of the Cape Epic 2023 was characterized by a very strong wind that made the already tough 98 km and 2.500 meters of altitude difference during the day really very tough.
From the first kilometres Fabian e Wout they stayed in the front group, keeping up the pace and battling against the gusts of wind.
In the last kilometres, they broke away together with the Schurter-Frischneckt couple who anticipated the finish line by a couple of seconds.

For Wilier Triestina Pirelli Factory Team this is the second stage win at the Cape Epic in just 2 years of partnership. Rabensteiner and Alleman are now fourth in the general standings just 5” from the podium in GC.

"Today was a tough stage from the start but we managed it well and in the finale we attacked alongside the Scotts and took the win” – Wout Alleman

"The wind was incredibly strong, twice it almost made me fall to the ground and also made me lose the wheels of the peloton, but I held on and together with Wout we returned and when we found ourselves in the finale with only the Scotts we gave everything and we won a beautiful victory”- Fabian Rabensteiner.

Other important Top 10 also for Samuele Porro and Vincenzo Nibali which close at 7 th despite a metal cable entering the gearbox that slowed down Porro in the final stages. They too are making progress in GC, now they are in seventh place.

"With the wind so strong, the stage was really tough. I'm a bit sorry for the mechanical problem that slowed us down in the final stages, taking away our chance to play in fifth place” – Samuel Porro.
