Canyon launches a new line of e-MTBs, the Neuron:ONfly. What is it about?

The Neuron:ONfly, Canyon's most versatile e-MTB, combines a cutting-edge carbon frame with Bosch's recently launched Performance Line SX power system, delivering 55Nm of torque and 600W of power. The result is a bike that offers the best of compact, lightweight e-MTBs and more powerful, high-torque e-MTBs. Less weight. More power.

Canyon's first lightweight, dedicated e-MTB maximizes your time on the bike by making the most of your effort. It is a high-performance e-bike with an active riding feel, for those who prefer to be the rider and not the passenger. It is for the cyclist who wants an agile and streamlined machine where his performance is amplified rather than produced by a heavy bike.

There are four models available in the Neuron:ONfly line, with prices ranging from 4.849 to 7.999 euros, offering an unrivaled combination of performance and value. In the United States the Neuron:ONfly is only available in the CF 7 model, priced at $5.499.

Compact power, unleashed!

The saying “you get what you put in” has never been more true than with the Neuron:ONfly. The compact Bosch SX motor adapts to effort and cadence to deliver up to 600 watts of peak power. But this isn't armchair racing: peak power comes from pedaling speed. By pedaling at a higher rpm, the Neuron:ONfly provides more power, rewarding your efforts. More power at the pedal, more energy on the trails.

Tailwind Technology is the name that Canyon has given to its e-bikes with compact motors, which allow those who use the Neuron:ONfly to have full control with an active riding sensation. This new approach to e-bikes not only offers the freedom of exploration, which you have become accustomed to e-MTBs, but also offers a more agile and responsive bicycle, freed from the weight of heavier e-bikes.

The Neuron:ONfly sits in the middle of the Neuron family, with the full-power Neuron:ON being the choice for all-day adventures in the mountains, while the Neuron is a 100% human-powered bike for those who want to maintain tradition.

Bosch SX motor, powerful and silent

The heart of this bike is the silent Bosch SX motor, which has the same peak power as its big brother, the Bosch CX, with 600W. The difference is in torque, with the SX featuring 55Nm of torque, meaning riders have to work harder to reach the peak power of their Neuron:ONfly.

One of the most important features of this engine is that the modulation does not increase by leaps and bounds, but progressively. On dirt roads, the support is comfortable, as if you were pedaling with the wind at your back. When you turn onto the trail and push towards the summit, the motor increases its power and reacts sensitively and directly to your inputs.

Thanks to cutting-edge sensor technology, the system detects every pedal stroke and adjusts its power. Never before has an e-bike been so natural.

With the Bosch SX motor, riders can reach a top speed of 25 km/h (or 20 mph / 32 km/h according to US regulations) and, depending on the rider and conditions, climb 1.000 m altitude in Turbo mode . These lighter and more compact drive units also feature smaller, thinner 400Wh batteries that integrate seamlessly into the frames, saving 2-3kg compared to the Neuron:ON.

Sought after and ready to ride

The Neuron:ONfly ushers in a new era of sleek e-MTBs with a clean silhouette and sporty style thanks to its reduced carbon fiber frame that remains stable and rigid on technical descents. The combination of 29" wheels and 140mm of front and rear travel helps the bike overcome bumps and be consistent and efficient on climbs.

The 64,5° head tube angle allows you to maintain control at high speeds in the woods, while the long reach (460 mm in size M) offers plenty of room for movement. When the route is uphill, the cyclist is in a neutral position thanks to the 76,5° seat angle for a comfortable climb.

Canyon's proven triple-phase suspension has been refined for the Neuron:ONfly to improve anti-squat which makes the bike more efficient to pedal. Add to that a wide range of sizes, from XS to XL, and sporty e-bike rides have never looked so good.

Power for extended runs

The Neuron:ONfly comes with a 400Wh PowerTube battery installed in the downtube. But if you need more power, Bosch's PowerMore discreetly adds another 250Wh in a handy package that clips to your downtube and looks like a water bottle. No detail has been overlooked in this bike. Even the charging socket has been designed to open seamlessly at the push of a button and to further protect the electronics from wind and rain.

Every detail is important

The finishes make the Neuron:ONfly one of the most versatile electric bicycles ever produced by Canyon. The frame is equipped with intelligent protections, such as the Impact Protection Unit in the head tube and the bumper on the down tube to protect the frame in the event of a fall. Plus, there's a full-length chainstay cover and an integrated chain guide to protect the chain from impacts and keep it safe. And then there's the internal wiring, which runs through PU tubing, held firmly in place within the frame to keep the bike free from vibration.

Ride like Bosch with the ConnectModule and the eBike Flow app

Neuron:ONfly uses the Bosch ConnectModule and Canyon's Flow eBike app to deliver a fully connected experience. With the Bosch app, cyclists can configure the motor exactly how they want, download updates and fine-tune preferences to suit their riding style.

The apps also add an extra layer of security with a digital lock. If you turn off the Neuron:ONfly, the alarm is automatically activated. At the slightest movement, it produces a warning sound to discourage potential thieves. If the Neuron:ONfly moves significantly, the system immediately notifies it on your smartphone. The tracking function is activated automatically and allows you to follow the location of your bike live via the eBike Flow app.

The Neuron:ONfly line

At launch, four Neuron:ONfly models will be available worldwide, except in the United States, where the Neuron:ONfly CF 7 will launch.

CF LTD: The top-of-the-line Neuron:ONfly CF LTD features a 12-speed SRAM Eagle XX AXS drivetrain, 140mm FOX Float Factory shock and 34mm FOX 140 Factory fork (both 130mm on XS frames), SRAM brakes Code Ultimate Stealth 4-piston, Bosch Performance Line SX with Compact PowerTube battery, dropper post and other Canyon finishing kit for a total weight of 19,1 kg. The Neuron:ONfly CF LTD costs 7.900 euros / 7.649 pounds.

CF 9: With an impressive build, the Neuron:ONfly CF 9 has a 140mm RockShox Pike Ultimate fork and a 140mm RockShox Deluxe Select+ shock (both 130mm on XS frames). The SRAM Eagle XX AXS 12-speed drivetrain is paired with DT Swiss HX1700 LS wheels and SRAM Code Silver Stealth brakes. Available in Space Gray, the CF9 weighs 19,9 kg and costs 6.999 euros.

CF 8: Specifically built with FOX and Shimano, the Neuron:ONfly has a 34mm FOX 140 Performance fork and a 140mm FOX Float Performance shock (both 130mm on XS frames) taking care of the suspension. The XT brakes and drivetrain help the rider pick up speed and slow down, while the dropper post and Canyon cockpit keep the rider in control. The CF 8 weighs 19,6 kg, is available in Space Gray or Dystopian Green and costs 5.599 euros.

CF 7: The most accessible Neuron:ONfly is the CF7, which strikes the balance between performance and price with a solid Shimano Deore drivetrain and SRAM Code R brakes. Suspension is a 140mm RockShox Pike Base and a RockShox Deluxe Select+ shock 140mm (both 130mm on XS frames). Available in Space Gray, Dystopian Green or Digital Cherry, the CF7 weighs 20,4 kg and costs 4.849 euros.

The new Neuron:ONfly is available exclusively on canyon. com in sizes XS to XL from Thursday 25 April.
