The world's toughest and most prestigious stage marathon is back and to celebrate the 20th edition of the Absa Cape Epic, Canyon has introduced the limited edition Lux World Cup CFR Untamed.

The seven-stage route winds through the South African wilderness for 613km and 16.850 meters of altitude, on a route that requires incredible levels of fitness, hour-after-hour mental focus and a racing bike that can take the beating and to shine day after day.
The limited Untamed edition takes the proven performance of the Lux World Cup CFR and adds DT Swiss construction and a new exclusive colorway. After Luca Schwarzbauer took first overall in Short Track XCC and fourth in XCO Cross Country aboard the Lux World Cup CFR in 2023, and Puck Pieterse took home XCO and XCC wins aboard the same bike, the Lux World Cup could now add another major win to its palmarès.
THE LIMITED EDITION OF THE LUX WORLD CUP CFR UNTAMED
Untamed's goal is simple: win the Absa Cape Epic. This meant not only refining the Lux World Cup CFR to be the best XC Marathon bike on the planet, but also working with top marathoners to show what's possible from a rocket that dominates races and devours climbs.
Taking inspiration from South Africa's national animal, the springbok sums up the essence of this bike. Agile in harsh environments, fast and agile, but also extraordinarily durable thanks to its lightness, the springbok has evolved to thrive on the trails. The colorway of the bike reflects this inspiration: the Lux World Cup CFR Untamed is available in the Epic Springbok colorway.
DT SWISS CUSTOMIZED COMPONENTS
For one of the toughest marathons in the world, you need one of the best and most reliable marathon infrastructures in the world, so the Lux World Cup CFR Untamed comes with a top-notch specification from DT Swiss. The 232mm DT Swiss F110 One fork, with a topology-optimized design, sets a benchmark for stiffness-to-weight ratio and is equipped with Canyon's exclusive white shocks. The shock is the DT Swiss R232 One with 100mm travel, designed to float on roots and hold the line faster on descents. The all-new DT Swiss XRC1200 29er intensity with improved driving comfort. The DT Swiss package is completed by the D232 One Dropper Post seatpost with 60mm of travel. Developed specifically for cross country, it is very light, reliable and easy to maintain thanks to Upside Drop technology.

RACE WINNING PEDIGREE
This dream build adds to the Lux World Cup CFR podium chassis. Canyon's CFR represents a concerted design and development process to create benchmark racing products, and that's exactly what this bike delivers. Weighing just 1.575g in size Medium, making it one of the lightest XC frames on the market, and designed with highly efficient kinematics, this bike is tailor-made for grueling days in the saddle. At the heart of the bike's pedaling performance is the suspended link rocker, intelligent damper position and remote lockout suspension. When the long, fast descents in South Africa begin, the Untamed's 68,5-degree head angle, long reach and short stem give the rider total control.
FINISHED TO THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE STANDARDS
The cockpit controls are mounted on the Canyon CP0036 XC handlebar. The lightweight and stiff one-piece carbon cockpit was designed with Canyon professionals for cross racing. Its special ergonomic shape allows for a comfortable grip near the stem and provides the cyclist with an aerodynamic position on straight and flat sections. Braking and shifting are handled by Shimano with premium XTR drivetrain and brakes, for top-level MTB race performance.
Rounding out this limited edition bike are some well-designed additions, such as our lightest and sleekest chain guide (3,7 grams), enough space for two large water bottles, an integrated impact protection unit, a Quixle and the premium CeramicSpeed SLT bearings, super exclusive and super reliable.
THE ABSA CAPE EPIC RIDERS
The best of cycling will be on the start line in South Africa, with the world's fastest XC racers alongside stars from other disciplines who often swap slick tires for harder ones for the event. Representing the Canyon Sidi MTB Team on the starting line will be Andreas Seewald (DE), Petr Vakoc (CZ), Martin Stosek (CZ) and Marc Stutzmann (CH).
