About CamelBak
Founded in 1989, when CamelBak founder Michael Eidson was competing in the “Hotter 'n Hell 100” race in Wichita Falls, Texas. Eidson, who was a paramedic by trade, filled an IV bag with water and tucked it into a tubular sock, pinned the sock to the back of the shirt, and secured the tube over his shoulder with a clothespin. Within a few months, he brought the idea to Roger Fawcett and the first CamelBak product, the ThermalBak, was born. Initially it was not very successful but Fawcett did not give up and decided to spend his last $ 50.000 on an advertising agency to market the product. Barbara Mizuno invented the slogan “Hydrate or Die” and sales have skyrocketed. It is now one of the leading manufacturers of personal hydration equipment.
