From Vision to Collaboration: How MTB Destinations Are Changing
In the world of contemporary mountain biking, the success of a trail area no longer depends solely on the quality of its trails. It increasingly stems from planning, strategic vision, and the ability to build partnerships that enhance the experience. riding.
It is a topic that I also explored in depth in a recent article dedicated to designing territorial brands in the MTB world: The most advanced destinations today are able to attract important partnerships because they are capable of transforming themselves into true ecosystems dedicated to riders. A model already evident in places like Val di Fassa and which finds further confirmation in the case of BikePark Wales.
The new partnership between CamelBak® and BikePark Wales represents a concrete example of this evolution: a collaboration that goes beyond the simple presence of brands and instead aims to improve services, sustainability and the overall quality of the outdoor experience.
CamelBak: The brand that revolutionized outdoor hydration
Since the dawn of mountain biking, when the very idea of tackling long descents and remote trails was just beginning to take shape, CamelBak has revolutionized the way people experience outdoor hydration.
Founded in 1989, the American company was the first to imagine the possibility of drinking on the move thanks to a hands-free system integrated into a backpack with a hydration bladder: a solution that today seems natural in both the world of biking and trail running, but which at the time almost seemed like science fiction.

Since then, CamelBak has become a global benchmark in technical hydration, continuously evolving products designed to accompany riders, runners and outdoor enthusiasts in the most demanding conditions.
In recent years, the brand has developed increasingly advanced solutions in terms of ergonomics, stability, and space organization. During my trail testing for 365 MTBI've had the opportunity to use several CamelBak backpacks and waist packs, particularly appreciating their ergonomic solutions designed to allow complete freedom of movement and riding. The intelligent distribution of space and load allows for comfort, stability, and control of the bike even on the most technical and challenging sections of the trail, a crucial aspect when pedaling for long periods or tackling particularly dynamic descents.
Today CamelBak® announces a new partnership with BikePark Wales, one of the UK’s largest and most influential mountain bike parks, further strengthening the brand’s connection to the world of bike parks and mountain bike facilities internationally.
BikePark Wales: One of Europe's MTB Capitals

Located in Merthyr Tydfil, in the heart of South Wales, BikePark Wales is considered one of Europe's most iconic bike parks. Established in 2013, the center spans over 1.200 acres and offers more than 50 dedicated trails, with lines ranging from flow trails for beginners to technical descents and jump lines designed for expert riders.
The facility is organized following the model of large Alpine bike resorts: an efficient uplift service allows riders to maximize descents throughout the day, while the center also offers bike rental, a workshop, coaching, guides, skill areas and a complete visitor hub with a café and shop.
BikePark Wales is also known for its inclusive and progressive approach: trails are classified by difficulty and riding style. riding — flow, tech, or blend — making the park accessible to both those taking their first steps in gravity MTB and more advanced riders.
The collaboration with CamelBak is part of a shared vision to improve the overall rider experience through dedicated services, sustainability initiatives, and the development of exclusive co-branded products.
Among the planned projects are new water refill stations, activities aimed at reducing the use of single-use plastic and an increasingly integrated presence of the brand within the riding park experience.

“BikePark Wales perfectly represents the type of organization we want to partner with: a place that puts riders at the center and continues to invest in growing the MTB community,” comments Jakob Ludwig, Marketing Manager Europe at CamelBak.
“We are thrilled to welcome CamelBak to the BPW family. Hydration is a key element of the BPW experience. riding and working with the brand that defined this category allows us to offer even more value to our visitors,” adds Martin Astley, Co-Founder of BikePark Wales.
This partnership confirms CamelBak's commitment to supporting mountain bike culture not only through products, but also by supporting iconic places in the riding international community.
