Anyone who decides to buy an eBike wants to protect it from theft in the best possible way and, precisely to ensure greater security, Bosch eBike Systems has decided to extend a new digital protection to batteries. At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, in fact, Bosch presents “Battery Lock”: a unique function that blocks the eBike battery, making it unusable in the event of theft. The new solution integrates with the range of digital protection in the intelligent Bosch system which today already includes the functions “eBikeLock"and "eBike alarm".

“Battery Lock” provides the eBike batteryadditional digital protection
Removable batteries, such as PowerTube and PowerPack, are mechanically protected by a lock. “Battery Lock”, on the other hand, supplements this protection digitally: as soon as “Battery Lock” is active in the eBike Flow app, the battery is automatically locked when the eBike is switched off. If a locked battery is inserted into another eBike with an intelligent system, it automatically deactivates the motor support for the pedals, rendering the entire eBike completely unusable. This also makes it impossible to resell the battery, which reduces the risk of theft.
Total flexibility: compatible with all batteries and battery combinations of the intelligent system
Several digital keys can be used simultaneously for “Battery Lock”: the smartphone with the eBike Flow app and the Kiox 300 or Kiox 500 displays. These digital keys are managed flexibly with the eBike Flow app and “Battery Lock” can also be deactivated if, for example, you want to share the battery with friends or family. “Battery Lock” is also compatible with all batteries and battery combinations in the intelligent system. It also works with DualBatteries and the PowerMore 250 Range Extender.
Optimal additional and intelligent theft protection
With the new “Battery Lock” function, Bosch eBike Systems is expanding its existing range of digital security solutions and providing eBikers with even greater protection against theft. With the function “eBike Lock”-already available – your phone and the Kiox 300 and Kiox 500 displays act as digital keys to activate the motor support for pedalling. “eBike Alarm” informs users of the location of their eBike and sounds the alarm in case of suspicious movements. If the eBike is stolen, users receive a push notification on their phone and location tracking begins. In case of theft, the theft report summarizes all the important data about the eBike and the crime, so that they can be transmitted to the police together with a tracking link in real time. "eBike pass”, finally, it acts as a digital “registration book” that shows eBikers all the important information about their eBike.
Available from summer 2025
“Battery Lock” can be installed over-the-air via the eBike Flow app as usual on any Bosch eBike that has the intelligent system installed. It will be available from summer 2025 as part of the paid Flow+ subscription.
