Emotions do not end at Bike Festival 2014, even the ones you don't expect. The review of Riva del Gardadedicated to mountain bike this morning experienced the most spectacular of the races, the Marathon, which he saw at the start as well 2300 bikers (engaged in the four different paths) and on arrival several twists. The presence of so many champions represented a further motivation for the participants and spectators, and there was no shortage of surprises.
To win the Extreme Round she was an old acquaintance of the Bike Festival, the elevetic Urs Huber, already world champion of the specialty in 2008, today in his third affirmation in the Rivana Marathon. Only reached the finish line, he preceded the Portuguese Tiago Ferreira (POR). But the result is the result of a daring ending in which the losers make the news as the winner, especially the Czech. Jaroslav Kulhavy – Olympic champion of cross country at the London 2012 Games, as well as testimonial of Trentino, therefore particularly awaited by enthusiasts.
Subverting a prediction that he did not want him to be among the favorites in a specialty other than the one in which he excels, and still not in great condition, Kulhavý was very much on the verge of victory in command of the race together with his compatriot Kristian hynek, when both treads made a mistake in the last descent which obviously favored the pursuers. So Kulhavý and Hynek had to settle for third and fourth place respectively.
The winner Huber gave his interpretation of the exciting final: “I won a beautiful race, circumstances favored me, probably my two pursuers were the strongest. On the other hand, yesterday I went to see the route and this probably avoided the mistake my two opponents made ". Jaroslav Kulhavý, from the height of his Olympic gold, took it philosophically: ”These places are fantastic, the race was great fun, I love the marathon which is the best preparation for the season of cross country, even if today didn't end as I would have liked... we took the wrong path by playing for victory, never mind. One day I will win this race, and also the marathon world title”. The female Ronda Extrema saw the success of the British Sally Bigham.
The long day of the Bike Festival, as scheduled, continued until late at night with barbecues, beer, music and dancing. Happy night, happy Garda Trentino.
