The first step of the new collaboration has already taken place through the delivery, by Bosch eBike, of 5 eCargo bikes to supplement the fleet of non-electric bikes already in possession of UBM, which will be used by bike couriers for logistics activities in the city of Milan. Thanks to these new features, couriers will be able to optimize their daily activities, transporting larger loads more easily and safely, especially during departure and acceleration. The eCargo bikes are in fact equipped with the Cargo Line traction system, designed to meet the special requirements of bikes of this type and to facilitate the transport of loads, even greater than 100 kg. Couriers will also be able to benefit from the technological innovations provided by eBikes and, for example, monitor navigation and track data relating to their routes through the intelligent functions of the displays.

"We firmly believe that Cargo bikes and, even more so, eCargo bikes, can be the most effective solution to build a low environmental impact logistics model in our cities"Comments Federica Cudini, Country Marketing Manager, Bosch eBike Systems Italy. "The studies of recent years have amply demonstrated how these vehicles can be an alternative to cars and commercial vehicles, with a potential saving of 8 tons of CO2 every year, not to mention the advantages in terms of reducing traffic and pollution. acoustic. This is not only a greener alternative, but also a more efficient one: to cover distances within 10 kilometers, electric bikes are the fastest means of transport. We therefore want to do our part for the development of a more efficient and more sustainable urban logistics system, first of all through our products and our technological innovations, but also by giving support to the realities that are committed with professionalism and seriousness in this direction. And it is the seriousness that prompted us to choose UBM as a partner in this path, which starts from Milan and which we would like to extend to other companies and local administrations ".
UBM Corrieri in Bici, born from the entrepreneurial spirit, the passion and experience of the brothers Gianni and Rita Fiammengo and Matteo Castronuovo, has been able to create an innovative and performing service, in full respect of environmental and social sustainability. Among the strengths of the company, the attention to its workers, constantly trained and protected from every point of view, and the decades of experience in last mile deliveries with cargo bikes.
"We are proud to represent a credible and reliable point of reference for Bosch in promoting sustainability, efficiency and safety objectives, which have always been UBM's founding principles," says Rita Fiammengo, CEO of UBM Corrieri in Bici. "We are a company that for years has identified cargo bike transport as the winning strategy to grow economically with full social sustainability. Our consolidated experience in this sector will prove to be fundamental to provide valid feedback both to the market and to the Milanese citizens. We firmly believe in the values already expressed and in the validity of this strategy. This is why we will be alongside Bosch in reaching other cities interested in investing in similar strategies ”.
As proof of its key role in the field of low environmental impact urban logistics, last July UBM has been awarded the tender from AMAT, the Mobility and Environment Agency of the Municipality of Milan, for the "Neighborhood delivery point" project, presented as part of the C40 Cities “Zero Emission Urban Goods Transportation Technical Assistance Program”. UBM will be among the companies that will test a model of urban distribution of goods, especially those of the last mile, using their own cargo vehicles and eCargo bikes supplied by Bosch eBike.
Finally, the collaboration between Bosch eBike Systems and UBM also has an important dissemination objective: that of obtain data relating to the use of eCargo Bikes by Bike Couriers, in order to analyze the real benefits of electric support in terms of load capacity, number of deliveries, distances covered and CO2 emissions saved.
