What a show the mtb at Montagnetta di San Siro. Scott Odlo MTB Racing Team double with Rissveds and Shurter, who beat our Fontana in the sprint.
The rain made the return of the great mountain bike to Milan even more spectacular. The track drawn on Monte Stella entertained the over 800 athletes competing in the second stage of the Internazionali d'Italia Series and gave an unforgettable show to the many fans who reached the Montagnetta di San Siro taking advantage of the holiday.
The youth categories animated the morning and saw Yannick Parisi and Giulia Challancin of Pila Bike Planet (Beginners 1st year), Giulio Viscardi of ASD Alpin Bike Edilbi and Marta Zanga of ASD Team Bramati (Beginners 2nd year) triumph, Davide Zanoletti of Team Bike Rocks and Letizia Motallid of ASD Alpin Bike Edilbi (1st year students), Zaccaria Toccoli of Lapierre Trentino Team and Nicole Fede of Cadrezzate Verso L'Iride (2nd year students). For them, in addition to the rich prizes offered by the sponsors of the event, a well-deserved Easter egg could not be missing.
In the junior category Easter Monday winning for the Swiss Vital Albin (Bike Team Solothurn) and the Swedish Ida Jansson (Team Lapierre Sweden Falu), who dominated their respective tests.
The climax of this Monday full of emotions was given by the open races, for which the sky cleared and let the sun out. Among the women, the Swedish Jenny Rissveds of the Scott Odlo MTB Racing Team won clearly, who beat the British Evie Richards by 49 "and the Swiss Kathrin Stirnemann by 1'53".
“I'm surprised, but happy. The course was technical, the ground slippery. It was an intense race, it was all up and down, right and left, I enjoyed it. I took the lead from the start so as not to take risks, after the first part of the race in the company of Stirnemann I forced myself uphill to be alone and managed. There were really a lot of people, the Italian fans are exceptional and in Milan today there was a really special atmosphere »commented the queen of the pink race, making her seasonal debut.
The men's race offered an exciting three-way challenge with a sprint victory for the world champion Nino Schurter (Scott Odlo MTB Racing Team) on home idol Marco Aurelio Fontana and French Stephane Tempier (Bianchi Countervail) trailing from the first two by 13 ”.
«With Marco it was a really good battle. At the beginning I suffered a bit, this winter I trained well, but I missed the overspeed of racing. The circuit full of short and steep jumps resulted in a lot of selection. In the end I was the fastest, but we got really close. I really enjoyed this race in the city, our sport must go in this direction. I have a close relationship with Italy, I often train in Tuscany, I am happy to have started my 2016 from here »explained the Swiss, before joining the fray of fans for autographs and customary photos.
Great satisfaction for the success of the event was expressed by the organization curated by the Novagli Team Bike, by the representatives of the Italian Cycling Federation, the Municipality of Milan and the Lombardy Region. After two tests Chiara Teocchi (Bianchi Countervail) and Marco Aurelio Fontana confirm themselves as leaders of the Internazionali d'Italia Series among the Open, in the junior category the best are Martina Berta (Sixs Devinci Pro Team) and Nico Eichemberger (Swiss National Team).
