SANTA MARGHERITA LIGURE CROWNS VITTORIO GAMBIRASIO AND LAURA ROSSIN NEW SUPERENDURO CHAMPIONS

The 2017 season ends on the trails of one of the most beautiful locations overlooking the Ligurian Sea. The Portofino Superenduro in Santa Margherita Ligure was a tough and very physical race, a challenge that thrilled the participants and the public with an event at the height of the circuit and the Enduro World Series Qualifier.

After four races in Umbria, Trentino Alto Adige, Valle d'Aosta and Emilia Romagna, the Superenduro lands in Liguria for the last round of the season and does so with a decisive race, the challenge for the title of champion and Superenduro 2017 champion.

With the games still open and several riders on the list for the victory in both the men's and women's categories, the excitement and tension were palpable in the paddock area set up on the seafront of Santa Margherita Ligure, where mechanics and team managers worked for make the pilot-vehicle package as competitive as possible.

All this competitive charge of the almost 300 starters then turned into adrenaline once the race started and the riders put their wheels on the paths prepared by the Portofino Bike organization, unloading on the ground, between curves and relaunches, all the desire to win.

The new Superenduro champion is Vittorio Gambirasio from Turin, today fifth of the day at 26.53sec from the head of the race, who finally hits the goal pursued for several seasons and after winning the Italian in 2016, this year brings home to the Team Red Bike also that of the Superenduro National Circuit.

Upon arrival Vittorio Gambirasio declared “Today nothing really was enough to throw away a season of work. We were all there, just a few points away. All fast riders and the goal was not only to finish the race but also to go fast ”.

The best interpreter of the race was instead an increasingly convincing Matteo Raimondi (Team GB Rifar Racing) in the third center of the season and in any case third also in the championship, who a bit embittered for the result of the year already talks about winter training and gives all see you at the next edition, very busy.

Second of the day with a gap of 5.28sec from the head and fourth in the championship just a stone's throw from Matteo, closes Marco Milivinti (Team GB Rifar Racing), a real race car looking for new stimuli at national and international level for 2018.

In third position here at Portofino Superenduro Matteo Berta, rider of Team CPZ Airoh Ion Santacruz at his best result of the season.
Nicola Casadei (Team CMC Cycling Experience), today closes fourth with a gap of +25: 31 sec. Definitely a result that leaves a bit of a bitter taste in his mouth but the second position in the championship just 80 points behind Vittorio is worth and means a lot for the San Marino player.

Together with Vittorio on the highest step of the seasonal podium, an amazing Laura Rossin of Team GB Rifar Racing returns and reconquers the Superenduro Championship in the Female Category, who here in Santa Margherita Ligure wins both the stage and the title.
“It's nice to end with the victory of the day and the Championship. This season of mine teaches that even if things go badly at the beginning, you have to believe in it and in the end the results arrive. I am really satisfied ”.

Following Laura in the championship Jessica Bormolini (Raptors Bike Team) today third at 1:57:21 min, while Alia Marcellini (Team Cingolani Trek) closes third in the championship and second of the day at 1:07:43 min.

In the E-Bike Category, Gusti Wildaber of the Cube Action Team wins the title, in several special tests this year within the absolute Top 15 with an ebike, ahead of Giulio Guadalupi of the Mysticfreeride asd team while Marcello Ghidini Beltrami TSA Gravity closes third. To enter the race today Alessandro Gennesi (asd Freeride Tigullio) first classified and Enrico Carlassara (Team Todesco asd) third.

The one who dominates everything in the young category, both the race and all the individual stages of this incredible 2017 season is Simone Pellissero, the promise of the Ancillotti Team who beats the competition by closing the perfect season.
Second of the day at just 0.49 cents the rival of a season, Francesco Mazzoni Cicobikes dsb Nonsolofango, while the third of the day ends Martino Lani (Lake Maggiore MTB School), fourth in the championship. Andrea Garella (Flowerbike MTB School) closes the podium of the season in third position.

What has just ended was a great Superenduro season, made up of beautiful races with some of the most exciting specials and battles ever, important numbers of Italian and international riders with stages closed to over 400 starters, numbers that report years ago and which confirm the desire for high level demonstrations among enduro practitioners.

The organization, also strengthened by the introduction of new figures such as that of Manuel Ducci and implementation in the logistics staff, was able to overcome complex moments and guarantee the carrying out of events of the highest profile.

The Superenduro is now already looking to 2018 and is preparing to choose new amazing locations in our beautiful country. Get ready, it will be really impossible to miss!
