They wanted to reiterate it again: the owners of Appenninica MTB Stage Race 2022 are they, Diego Arias and Naima Diesner. Their triumphal march continues, hitting success also in the fifth fraction, 60 km and 1.700 meters in altitude, from Fanano to Porretta Terme, on Thursday 8 September.
After the victory of Miguel Munoz Moreno in Fanano, the Colombian of Hubbers-Polimedical has returned to impose himself in Porretta Terme. Arias completed his effort in 2:39:17, with a 3:09 advantage over the Spanish DMT Racing Team and 7:04 from Francisco Filipe. The leader of the general set the pace from the first part of the race, leading a solo race towards the final finish.
Behind him, in addition to the DMT Racing Team duo, also Felix Frtizsch who, however, due to a mechanical problem, then had to leave the company paying duty: his delay at the finish line 1:19:35. The negative result of the German has completely reopened the games for the general classification. Filipe has in fact consolidated the second position behind Arias with a delay of 27:14, while his teammate has now risen to third place at 1:04:11 from the Colombian.
“Today I had excellent sensations again, yesterday I preferred to save energy. I took advantage of a very slippery climb and tried to go alone, with my pace. I also enjoyed the landscape, I am happy with this fourth victory and to have increased the advantage in the general ”, analyzes Diego Arias after the finish.

It was in the air and so it was: Naima Diesner also hits the fifth victory, the eighth consecutive in Appenninica, beating the record of consecutive successes (7) held by Esther Süss after the 2020 edition. is imposed in 3:40:39, with an advantage on the finish line of Porretta Terme of 10:59 on Elena Novikova and 12:58 on Rozanne Slik.
Diesner's next goal will now be to hit the row of 7 out of 7 victories in the same edition, also held by Süss. The general classification is now armored with the German who has more than an hour ahead of Camilla Marinelli and Debora Lana.

FROM PORRETTA TO LIZZANO IN THE CORNO ALLE SCALE AREA
Penultimate effort for the Apennine athletes who will reach from Porretta Terme Lizzano in Belvedere lungo 63 Km and 2700 meters of altitude. In the first 30 kilometers they will be immersed on forest paths without the presence of human settlements but it is after km 37 that the path will become difficult. The most challenging ascent of the day is the one towards the Passo dello Strofinatoio (6 km and 600 meters of elevation gain), with the last 500 meters of portage. The finish is instead downhill towards the arrival of Lizzano in Belvedere.
