5 Special Stages and 4 ski lifts in the middle of the Dolomites, with the last PS “Show” ending in the heart of the paddock area. Free practice opens on Sunday 19th and definitive layout on Saturday 25th.
The third stage of the 2016 season, the Canazei Superenduro Powered by SRAM will be a fun race that will be played almost exclusively downhill along the special stages that wind through woods and meadows at high altitude. Much of the uphill difference in height of this event will be covered by the four cableways and this guarantees an important saving of energy to be released once the 5 PS time trial has started.
Despite this, among the few transfer sections not covered by lifts, all highly panoramic in view of the Dolomite massifs of Marmolada, Sassolungo and Pordoi, there is also a portage (a small section of the transfer at the start of PS1), but above all a portion of asphalt towards the Pordoi Pass, site of beautiful duels of the Giro d'Italia.
Many wonder if the race course will reflect the 2015 Italian track and the answer is No! The specials of this second Italian Enduro World Series Qualifier Event (the first was Massa Marittima) are practically all new or in any case completely revised with inspections and many hours of work by the Fassa Bike and Superenduro staff.
In Canazei there really is something for everyone, broken undergrowth with roots, fast and fluid sections, a tight mix with hairpin bends and even a special in the open field with fresh "French style" tracing that will be testable from Thursday 23 before the race .
In Canazei the bikers will start three times from an altitude of over 2.200 meters and almost 2.400 for the PS3 Freeride Pordoi. The longest special is the 4 Infinity VOL2 with 5,1km and 719m of elevation gain. The shortest is the PS5 Show, a special town that will see the final sprint directly in the middle of the paddock area in the town.
The Canazei stage is a very important event for many competitors. It represents the turning point of the 2016 Superenduro Circuit and could close the games as well as reopen them completely in both the male and female categories. In addition to this it is one of the two Italian EWS Qualifier Events, it is valid as the final stage of the Triveneto Enduro and at the same time will assign the title of Provincial Enduro Champion.
The desire to push hard in Canazei will be really great.
On Sunday, all riders are invited to try the PS to become familiar with the terrain that is certainly very different from that of Varazze, however paying attention that the PS1 will not be accessible as at the moment the area is subject to forest cutting and the PS3 as anticipated. above will be ready no earlier than Thursday 23.
At this link the Race Document with all the information, GPX TRACKS and ONBOARDS of the PS. We remind you that REGISTRATIONS are still open and will close on Thursday 23 June.
Starting from Friday 24th the preparation of the Event Village and the competition secretariat will begin where it is possible to conclude the card verification and collect the single ski pass valid for the two days (Saturday and Sunday) at 15 euros and why not maybe also meet the WOW girls, the women's MTB event staged in those days?
See you in the Dolomites!
