The pair of Wilier Triestina - Pirelli Factory Team in this third stage chose to lead a tactical race, also considering the 70 km track, but not very selective because it is fast and with little climb. In the second part of the stage they picked up the pace by attacking on the last climb that came a few kilometers from the finish. On the arrival another royal sprint by Rabensteiner and Alleman who regulate the Buff-Megamo. Despite their efforts they did not manage to overtake the leaders of the general classification Seewald and Stosek, third at 2 ″.
Tomorrow there will be the time trial stage, where the guys of the Wilier Triestina Factory Team will try to close the gap (1'39 ”) that separates them from the top of the general classification.
“Today's stage was very technical. We knew that the sprint could be decided again and we tried to save energy and find the time to start the final sprint and it worked again! ”, He secured a smiling Alleman after the victory.
In the women's category, the script followed the trend of the first two stages with Lüthi and Wakefield dominating from the start of the stage and managing the technical descents to preserve the mechanics.
“We took an early lead and wanted to put pressure on our rivals on the technical parts. That's where we feel at ease ", Lüthi explained after the podium.
