A new motor for e-bikes was presented at Eurobike called RMAG System and produced by I am open. A complete Power Unit, i.e. a system made up of an electric motor, battery, sensors and display. Amprio is a German company and SRAM, second bike-eu.com, is taking by buying the shares. Surely a giant like SRAM has many reasons to want to enter the electric segment.
AMPRIO FEATURES
The new engine is compatible with the Shimano EP8: ie it has the same dimensions as the Japanese engine and therefore can be mounted on the same bikes. A very important added value to be able to start an active collaboration with Shimano. Of course it's strange to think of a collaboration between Sram and Shimano, the 2 main opponents in the world of cycle transmission.
The nominal voltage of the motor is 48 volts and with a classic maximum power of 250 watts. It can offer up to 420% assistance with up to 90Nm of torque. Weighing in at 2,85kg, it is an e-bike motor in the usual mid-motor format. As mentioned earlier, it also has its own line of batteries and displays. Three batteries are provided: 550, 660 and 710 wh.
