The Trentino locality of Canazei, gateway to the spectacular Fassane Dolomites, served by modern and fast ski lifts, hosted the hard-fought and uncertain third stage of the Superenduro 2016 circuit.
The third stage of the Superenduro Powered by SRAM 2016 Circuit ended here in Canazei, valid as an Enduro World Series Qualifier Event, with a highly spectacular, hard-fought and full of twists race, which saw 400 riders engaged in the Special Stages which from the foot of the Dolomite massifs they descend to the village.
In the men's category Alex Lupato returns to the top step of the podium after a long absence, gaining positions in the overall standings which currently sees him second with 1200 points. In second position Matteo Raimondi closes with his best result so far in a Superenduro, while third is Marco Milivinti who with this placement leaps to the top of the circuit with 1220 points.
Upon arrival Alex Lupato declares “making the right decisions in a race so conditioned by the weather is really difficult and above all to drive without making mistakes. I pushed in the right places and brought home the result, I'm happy to be back to winning ”.
Vittorio Gambirasio due to a problem in PS1 closes only sixteenth and loses the first position in the overall standings, currently he is third with 1150 points.
Among the many women who participated in this third round, also thanks to the partner event WOW, Tracy Moseley dominates the race by winning all the special stages, followed by Louise Paulin second and Sara de Leo third. With Laura Rossin leaving the scene, due to a shoulder injury, it is the two of them who respectively conquer the first and second position in terms of the championship.
“It was pretty epic. Thunderstorms, sun, technical routes, a special town and more. I would say it was a good Superenduro ”, Tracy Moseley's comment at the end of the race.
In the E-Mtb category the fastest is Giorgio Righi, second is Morgan Lusa and third is Ivan Vian.
The water that fell in the early hours made the special stages very treacherous due to the mud and the many roots and stones that became extremely slippery. "It was a long time since there had been so many flat pedals" observes speaker Enrico Guala at the start "the choice is a must when the feet, in addition to pedaling, are also often used to quickly regain balance".
Fortunately, the bad weather soon gave way to large spells. The result was a race divided neatly in two, a first wet portion and a second dry one. Complex interpreting and making the best choices for both competitors and the organization. Despite this, the Fassa Bike guys showed ability to react and character, quickly making the decision to cancel the PS3 as it would have run in full time, thus ensuring the safety of the participants.
The Canazei stage completely reopens the games in terms of the circuit classification, creating even greater expectations for the important final stage of the last weekend of July in Santa Caterina Valfurva in the upper Valtellina.
