The World Cup season begins on a very treacherous path, with various technical traits from hands to hair, especially in the conditions in which the athletes ran, that is with a light layer of mud to cover the stones.
To win among men is Aaron Gwin: powerful as usual and fast. No doubts about YT's Tues: he looks damn fast. Nice return to the top for Steve Smith, second place after several seasons with problems related to injuries. Third is Danny Hart.
Too bad for Loic Bruni who was the man to beat today. Despite a crash in the middle of the course, he finished in 14th place, after being in the lead in the first 2 split times.
Our standard bearers fail to express all their qualities. The best is Gianluca Vernassa who finishes in 67th position, while Loris Revelli, author of an excellent qualifying heat yesterday (47th), crashes and has to settle for a 75th position.
British dominance in the women's field, with Rachel Atherton and Tahnée Seagrave in the first 2 positions. Third place for Manon Carpenter. Good performance of the Italians with the 8th place of Eleonora Farina and the 10th of Alia Marcellini. 13 ^ the Italian champion Veronica Widmann.
Among the Juniors, Finnley Iles wins over Matt Walker of the Madison Saracen team. Mirko Manazzale, the only Italian in the final, closes in 23rd position.
