"Heartfelt thanks to the actors who made this new path possible, the first 'homemade' in Garda Trentino: first and foremost to the Garda Rangers who carried out the works, to the forestry corps, to the Municipality of Riva del Garda and to the project management department of 'APT with Stefania Oradini and Emanuele Biagi. The work was designed specifically for Mountain Bike and follows the IMBA standards which we also intend to apply for future routes” – declared the President of Garda Dolomiti Azienda per il Turismo SpA Silvio Rigatti.
The variant, in addition to enriching the bike offer, presents itself as an important innovation for the area: it is in fact the first route entirely designed and created by Garda Dolomiti SpA, In collaboration with the Municipality of Riva del Garda, Forest Rangers, the geologist Alice Ferrari and the APT Outdoor Consultant Angelo Seneci.
Specifically, the new route is included between Capanna Grassi el'town of Campi on the orographic right of the Val di Gelos stream at a variable altitude between 1100 and 1010 m above sea level and develops for approximately 470 meters with a negative height difference of 90 and a width of 1,20 as required by IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) standards. “The decision to apply the IMBA standards also concerns the concept of safety, an important theme that is among the parameters that we intend to follow also on future projects in our territory” – added the Director of Garda Dolomiti Azienda per il Turismo SpA Oscar Schwazer.
The operation, performed by the team of Garda Rangers, in collaboration with Arco Pegaso, became necessary following the collapse of the original path which affected the area and which led to the design of a new stretch of route to bypass the area subject to landslides. “The route was born from the need to find an alternative to a route that had been subject to a landslide. Being a project from scratch, it was possible to follow the IMBA criteria which on the one hand guarantee an optimal experience for bikers, on the other a long duration of the path with minimal ordinary maintenance interventions" - has explained Emanuele Biagi of the project management department of Garda Dolomiti Azienda per il Turismo SpA
"The final result of this work is truly excellent and it is wonderful that this was possible thanks to the collaboration of several people: although not too long, it is a soft path, with stones and curves, on which you can have fun but also train” – concluded the local bike Ambassador Eleonora Farina.
