The large park of Il Ciocco will be transformed into the 'land of toys' for young mountain bikers, competing this weekend at the Italian Team Relay Championships and in the fifth and final stage of the 2023 XCO Italian Youth Cup.

Beginners and Students (1st and 2nd year) with coaches and families in tow will grind out kilometers on the fun 3 km and 140 m/dsl circuit created in nature. Already registered are important names such as Elisa Giangrasso from the Aosta Valley, silver at the 2023 Italian XCO Championships, Jacopo Putaggio, first at the Internazionali d'Italia in La Thuile, and fellow countrymen Thierry and Joel Philippot, Paolo Costa, Nicole Vevey and Michel Careri. Alto Adige will descend on Tuscany with a solid group led by Franz Pallhuber, son of Hubert, known as 'Hubi', among the best international bikers in the 90s capable of winning the title of world champion in 1997 in the Cross Country specialty. Franz dreams of one day becoming as strong as his father Hubi, and has shown excellent form by winning the Coppa Italia stage in San Giovanni Rotondo. Then there will be the other South Tyroleans Anna Sinner, Julia Kostner, Fabian Höllrigl, Jakob Brunner, Nadia Lercher and Jakob Weger. From Friuli Venezia Giulia will come the Italian XCO vice champions Nicole Trampus (1st year Rookies) and Sabrina Rizzi (2nd year Students), and their fellow countrymen Matteo Antoniolli, Samuele Mania, Ettore Fabbro, Lorenzo Palmarin, Federico Chivilò, Massimo Bagnariol, Mirco Colledani and Elisa Castellan.
The summoned lists from the other regional committees will arrive in the next few days.
Meanwhile, the ranking of the XCO 2023 Youth Cup for committees has been updated after the results of San Giovanni Rotondo: Lombardy currently takes first place with 1066 pts, followed by Veneto (906 pts) and Friuli Venezia Giulia (899 pts). .
The Italian Team Relay Championship will open the dances on Saturday 9 September, starting at 14.30 pm. Races in bursts on Sunday starting at 9 for the XCO test: 3 laps (plus start loop) for the Beginners categories (1st and 2nd year male) and Female Students, 2 laps (plus start loop) for Female Beginners, and finally 4 laps (plus start loop) for the Students.
Barga, the capital of tourism, enclosed in the "Valley of the beautiful and the good" as Giovanni Pascoli defined it, will host the fourth edition of the Italian Youth Championships, confirming itself as a cutting-edge bike destination.
