The countdown has begun: there are only a few weeks left until the absolute debut of HERO Costa Blanca, first stage of 2026 HERO UCI Cross-Country Marathon World Cup, scheduled Saturday February 21 2026 a Calpe, in the province of Alicante.
A highly anticipated debut that will bring the HERO UCI Marathon World Cup circuit along the paths of the Valencian community, with a new and highly spectacular route: 82 kilometers and 2.700 meters of altitude difference, designed between Calpe and Benissa, between challenging climbs and technical single tracks capable of enhancing the physical and technical qualities of the athletes.
The race, valid for the HERO UCI Marathon World Cup, is expected to include: 160 Elite athletes from 25 nations, together with the participants of the categories Master License.
Race program
The departure is scheduled at the Park of Creativity:
- 8.00 – Elite Men's Start
- 8.10 – Elite Women's Start
- 8.20 – Master category start
Masters will be able to choose between the complete path from 82 km or a reduced distance from 50 km with 1.400 meters of altitude difference, designed for those who, at the start of the season, don't yet have the legs to run long distances.
The first arrivals are expected around 12.00 hours, with the arrival of the Elite men in Calpe, followed by the Elite women and the Masters.
All 13.15 hours, space for Flower Ceremony to celebrate the winners of the first edition of HERO Costa Blanca.
HERO Kids Costa Blanca
While the athletes challenge themselves on the paths of the Costa Blanca, there is also space for the champions of tomorrow with the HERO Kids Costa Blanca, scheduled Saturday 21 February at 9.30pm.
An experience designed for children to introduce them to the world of mountain biking in a safe and fun environment.
HERO Village and side events
The beating heart of the event will be theHERO Village, open to athletes and enthusiasts:
- Thursday February 19: From the 14.00 17.00
- Friday February 20: From the 10.00 17.00
The program on Friday, February 20th also includes:
- 15.30 – Official presentation of the UCI XCM Teams 2026
- 16.00 - HERO Race Talk, with interventions by high-level athletes who will share their feelings and expectations on the eve of the first race of the circuit
