In Italy, every year about 2 million bicycle tires and about 2 million bicycle inner tubes are thrown away for unsorted collection, for a total of about 1.000 tons of waste destined for landfills and incinerators.
These numbers are no longer sustainable. As a leading company and innovator in the production of bicycle tyres, Vittoria has chosen to take the field and propose a concrete solution.

Vittoria Re-Cycling is the new recovery and recycling program for bicycle tires and inner tubes involving cycling shops and bicycle repair shops in Italy. Through the programme, Vittoria offers the services of esosport – a company founded in 2009 and specialized in the recovery and recycling of waste materials in the world of sport – to its own retail distribution network, bearing all costs. The shopkeeper can enjoy free of charge the legally compliant collection and disposal service of out-of-use tires and inner tubes provided by esosport.

A waste recovery program that helps shops and the environment

In less than two months, many shops have applied to join the Vittoria Re-Cycling programme. This data demonstrates not only the increasing attention to the issue of sustainability by the entire supply chain but also the need of retailers to receive economic, legal and logistical support for the correct collection and disposal of tires and inner tubes from end-of-life bikes .

By subscribing to the Vittoria Re-Cycling programme, the shop is in line with the most recent regulations regarding the disposal of tires and inner tubes. esosport is a consolidated reality in the sports waste disposal sector and the project has obtained the patronage of the Italian Cycling Federation. Furthermore, Vittoria takes care of all the costs of the collection and disposal of tires and inner tubes for bicycles of all types and brands. The ESO RECYCLING plant in Tolentino (MC) houses an innovative machine capable of treating and transforming bicycle tires and inner tubes into secondary raw material, in the form of granules, which can be used to create anti-trauma flooring for playgrounds and sports surfaces.

Through Vittoria Re-Cycling, Vittoria and the stores that have joined the program help the planet and sport by actively contributing to the recycling of tires and inner tubes.
The points of sale that are part of the Vittoria Re-Cycling program are easily recognisable. In addition to containers for used tires and inner tubes, Vittoria provides free communication material such as advertising panels, leaflets and signs to be displayed in the shop. In this way, we try to make the final consumer aware of the importance of getting supplies from traders who are actively committed to sustainability.
