Finale Ligure is approaching

Source: press release

Here we are, the most anticipated event of the year is about to arrive. The event, the race that is worth a season, there are no more adjectives to describe the weekend of Finale Ligure on 4-5 October. The town that wrote the history of Mountain Bike in Italy is preparing to be again at the center of the world for three days for the last stage of the Enduro World Series 2014, which sees the staff of the Super Enduro Powered By SRAM to take care of the technical organization, alongside a Final Outdoor Resort .

After the success of the stage of La Thuile, Italy is ready to host for the second time in 2014 the series frequented by the top riders of the world enduro, ready to fly on the paths that wind in the hinterland of Finale, with a postcard view. on the Ligurian Sea. The history of Finale Ligure has always been in close contact with that of enduro, which here began its Italian journey back in 2008. In seven editions of the race, over 25 trails were used, perfectly prepared to be crossed from the legends of mountain biking and everyday bikers, but the surprise that awaits the participants of the 2014 edition goes far beyond all expectations.

Six unpublished special stages. New trails, never traveled by mtb before. The Final Enduro route will leave everyone speechless and will best represent all the qualities that a biker expects from this territory. Two days of hard and pure competition, with about 95 km to cover, divided into 50 on Saturday and 45 on Sunday, for a total of 2300 meters of negative altitude without any mechanized ascent.

The program of the event will officially start on Thursday 2 October with free practice. In the evening at 19.30 pm all female athletes participating in the race are invited to the EWS Women's Summit at Bar Caviglia. On Friday 3 October from 12 to 18 it will be possible to collect the number plate at the race secretariat (under the Superenduro tent). The riders briefing is instead scheduled for 18.30. We remind all participants that the secretariat will also be open on Saturday 4 October, from 7 to 8.

THE PATH
On Saturday the departure is scheduled for 8 am with the first transfer to San Bernardino, to face the PS1 PianarellaTrail. 2,5 km of special stage with flow sections alternating with passages on rocks and hairpins, which will lead to the second transfer towards Feglino. From the church of San Rocco we will leave for the PS2, the Neanderthal Trail. The PS, which crosses areas inhabited by prehistoric man, has a first pedaled section, followed by a rocky section and a toboggan that winks at pure fun. After the PS2 the riders will return to the paddock area for the time control. The third special of the day, called Megalithic, will start again from San Bernardino along sections of the path dating back to prehistoric times. The PS alternates pedaled sections with technical and exposed sections and ends near the town of Calvisio Vecchio. From the village the riders will take the way to the plateau of the Manie, through the famous road of the Roman bridges, to reach the Bric dei Crovi, departure of the PS4 DH Men. The last stage of the day is one of the most scenic trails in the entire Finale area, with vertical sections that seem to dive into the sea. Saturday will end at 18pm, followed by an aperitif and DJ set in Piazza Garibaldi.
On Sunday it will start again at 8, with the riders heading towards Feglino to pass the time control placed at the church of San Rocco. The transfer will continue on the asphalt up to Pian dei Corsi, where the old abandoned NATO base stands and from where the PS5 Cravarezza will start. A historical path, traveled for the first time about fifteen years ago, at the dawn of freeride in the Finale area. Curves in succession and compressions, a real paradise for bikers, who after the PS will head towards Monte Alto. From here will start the longest PS in the history of Finale Enduro, the PS6 Super Groppo. Six types of forest in a row, from cedars to beeches, with changes of pace in quick succession that will put the riders to the test, who will have five special stages in their legs. After the last effort, the riders will return to the paddock area for the arrival and the final award ceremony, scheduled for 17 pm.

On Thursday and Friday it will be possible to practice mechanized ascents, only on asphalted roads. The dirt transfer sections will always be forbidden to circulate, for the respect of the environment and for safety reasons. We remind all riders and the public that in the race card all the details of the event are present and we wish everyone a fun weekend in Finale Ligure!

[email protected] I am a fan of everything that has 2 wheels: at a young age I practiced road and track cycling (Italian Allievi champion). At the age of 18 I passed into the cross country competing at national/international level as an Under23. Past Elite, I made the choice to take things more lightly from a training point of view, and my love for gravity disciplines was born, training me as an FCI MTB instructor and guide. Now I have made passion my profession by managing 2 MTB centers on the island of Elba (Bike Center Elba and Elba MTB), creating the FANTAmtb and telling in an ironic but professional way everything that revolves around MTB thanks to 365mountainbike and 365TV (YouTube'PULITI dentro BIKER fuori').
