The small town on the Ligurian Riviera has a history woven into the very fabric of UCI Enduro World Cup races. She almost single-handedly showed the world what can happen when a small but passionate community of purists throws their collective weight behind a particular sport, namely enduro. For years it was the traditional closure of the EWS circuit, but this year it opens everything up.
30 years ago, a small group of passionate mountain bikers and local entrepreneurs convinced the local administration and businesses that for the future of tourism it was necessary to look to the hills behind Finale Ligure and not just the beaches. The path network that has expanded today embraces an area that includes more than 20 municipalities between Vado Ligure and Pietra Ligure. The Finale Outdoor Region is not just a European powerhouse when it comes to cycling destinations, but a global one.
Have there been races here before?
The Finale Outdoor Region hosted an international marathon for the first time last year to showcase its considerable network of trails. As for enduro, she is one of the pioneers. The Finale Outdoor Region is the only venue to be present in every program of the Enduro World Series and then the UCI Enduro World Cup since the birth of the former in 2013.
Pietra Ligure and Finale Ligure have both been at the forefront of the development of e-enduro racing in recent seasons as well.
