Laurie Greenland is without a team for 2026 and will take a break.

After four years with the Santa Cruz Syndicate, Laurie Greenland’s departure from the team has been announced at the end of 2025, leaving us to ponder what his future in the Downhill World Cup might hold.

In a recent social media post, Laurie stated that he is “unbranded” for the time being and will not race for most of the 2026 World Cup season. The announcement will be a disappointment for fans of the sport, as Laurie has been such an exciting rider to follow over the years.

In the video she shared on Instagram, Laurie is not wearing a Red Bull helmet and has no sponsors in her bio.

Other than that, it seems to move almost as well on the surfboard as it does on the mountain bike.

…going back to basics, unbranded pedals and flats for now. I have something fun planned, hopefully with a slightly different approach to what we all know and love. For now, I'll take it slowly and discover a pure passion for cycling. I won't be racing for most of the 2026 World Cup season. As a World Cup racer by name, this might seem a bit risky, but it's my choice and it felt like the right time to diversify a bit. Don't get me wrong, I love racing and owe my life to it, but burnout is real and there are so many other things I'd like to do with bikes outside of the tape. I've had ideas piling up in my head for years that racing hasn't allowed me to realize, it's time to check them off...!— Laurie Greenland
