Spending time outdoors is integral to their identity, which is why FarPointe’s “Life Outside First” approach helps the company stay connected to what really matters.

“FarPointe is a small, growing company founded by people who love the outdoors. We chose to keep everything under one roof to ensure we remain closely connected to the products we make and the people who wear them. Our goal has always been to prioritize quality over quantity, making products our customers use time and time again and count on them to perform,” says Joe La Pointe, founder and CEO.
Born from the path
After returning from a 30-day hike along the 500-mile Colorado Trail, founder Joe La Pointe kept thinking about a particular fabric he'd seen on the trip and wondering if it could replace the 200g beanie he'd worn every night. So he taught himself to sew, made a few lightweight beanies from Polartec® Alpha™ in his garage, and put them on sale. When those first beanies sold out, almost faster than he could produce them, he took a leap of faith: he quit his restaurant job and started what has since become a small manufacturing company, where every product is still designed, cut, sewn, and finished in-house.
Field tested
At FarPointe, product development happens during morning runs in the woods, design innovation during weekend backpacking trips, and long days spent outdoors exploring nature. The team's motto is simple: make products people trust so much they'll want to use them again the next day. And this philosophy influences every aspect of the company, from its local manufacturing strategy to the importance it places on customer feedback.
Refined by use
Like its team, FarPointe has grown alongside a community of passionate adventurers, including endurance athlete Will Ditto and hiker Katie Gerber, as well as outdoor storytellers like Cotezi, Scott, and Becky—all of whom have put FarPointe gear to the test in challenging real-world conditions. Over the years, innovations like the Alpha Cruiser with Polartec® Alpha™ have helped bring the brand to a wider audience. Yet for Joe, the story has always been more important than any product. It's about proving that careful and responsible manufacturing still plays a role in the outdoor industry.
Made by outdoor enthusiasts for outdoor enthusiasts
FarPointe is a small American manufacturer that believes people appreciate knowing exactly where their products come from and who made them. Each piece is still designed, cut, sewn, and finished under one roof by a team that spends as much time on the trail as behind a sewing machine. And in an industry where outdoor gear is often considered a commodity, this commitment to the product is increasingly rare. But that's exactly what FarPointe wants. So when long-distance hiker Will Ditto recently used FarPointe gear to set the fastest time ever recorded on the Lone Star Trail, the team wasn't surprised. Because stories like these epitomize the very purpose FarPointe products were built for: extreme use by people just like Joe and his team, who share a genuine love of the outdoors.

The fabric Polartec® Alpha™
Designed to handle variable weather conditions, Polartec® Alpha™ is an active insulation that regulates body heat, offering optimal comfort during activities characterized by frequent changes in intensity. Thanks to the combination of insulating fibers, a mesh structure, and hydrophobic properties, it guarantees the perfect balance of warmth, breathability, and quick drying, retaining heat when needed and dispersing it as soon as exertion increases. Lightweight, compressible, and easily stowed, it is also designed to integrate seamlessly with other fabrics, ensuring maximum versatility and high performance for every outdoor adventure.
