The official cause was never disclosed, but persistent pain in his left leg, likely related to a narrowing of the iliac artery, has been repeatedly mentioned. The situation is evidently more serious than expected, and the 97-born rider has been forced to end his professional career. This is unexpected news for the entire cyclocross community, who had hoped to see him back racing next winter.
The announcement came via a video posted by Iserbyt himself on his social media channels. In the message, he explains: "In recent weeks, several doctors have told me that, from a medical standpoint, it is no longer advisable for me to ride a bike, either recreationally or competitively. I have always shared the good times with you, and now I must share this news. Unfortunately, I can no longer continue my career." This decision, therefore, is based solely on his health and the advice of his doctors.
Among the first to comment on the video was Mathieu Van der Poel, who wished him "good luck." In the full video, available online, you can listen to the original statement in Flemish with English subtitles.
